ummm... conquer a ladder slip on a snake isn't inherently a religious reference... i get you're referencing the serpent in the garden of eden, but theres a childrens game called snakes and ladders, where if you land on a ladder, you advance farther, faster, and if you land on a snake, you go back instead. and i'm curious what coffins and crowns have to do w/ religion. it's not something i recognize. |

Since there still seems to be some debate about "Cool Shoeshine/Cruel Shoeshine" I got their book for christmas, and in it, they say it's "Get the cool shoeshine" all i have to say... And if you look for any deep meaning in gorillaz songs, you're an idiot... most, if not all, don't mean a thing. It's like looking at toast for the virgin mary, you may eventually get SOMETHING, but chances are, you're just mentally unstable... :) |

it is NOT that only god knows his feelings, the sentance spans 2 lines! But God only knows it's getting harder to see the sun coming through that is something i wanted to point out... Every planet we reach is dead. what i think that means is that the couple is willing to go as far as possible to make it work. OR that its a 1 sided relationship in which the singer is willing to do anything to keep the girl, but she keeps demanding more. I think they're ALREADY together... "But God only knows it's getting harder to see the sun coming through" I think that means that the hope for the relationship is getting dimmer... and it can mean another thing, as well. if they're willing to go to the stars for each other, and as theyre moving further and further from "earth," the starting point, the sun would be getting dimmer and dimmer (if say they were going all futuristic light years away) i dont know about that 2nd part, but it kinda makes sense... "All the sick and selfless days" i think has to do with the singer giving up everything he can, being selfless to the point that it's unhealthy. those are my thoughts on direct quotes from the song... but my gut tells me its about loving, and not being loved back, and no matter how hard you try, it wont change it. and as you change your life more and more for the person you love, you realize that it wont change anything and the relationship is dead. |

As far as "Presidents fighting their own wars" i think the fact that dubbya went AWOL while serving in the air force, or whatever it was that happened, after his father had to pull strings to get him in there above more qualified applicants says a lot... we need to focus more on helping improve the quality of life for the lower and middle class, not provide tax breaks to the rich... Warren Buffet, head of Berkshire Hathaway, one of the most influential businessmen in the US agrees with that... The trickle down theory is bullshit... plain and simple... it's a good song, too |
