Incubus – Nice To Know You Lyrics 22 years ago
Pembroke, you may be partially right, but you don't need to act so forceful and try to shove what you have to say down everyone's throats.
This song is obviously not a "Nothing more, nothing less" situation. I guess it started with his hand being numb, but it is very clearly more than that.
You need to chill out a little bit and try to realize that even if Brandon says the song is about his hand being numb, a major style of poetry and lyricism is to turn something small and stupid into something hugely relevant and applicable to the whole world.
What's your big problem with people talking about the different meanings? Is it so important to find a single right answer anyway?

Incubus – Out From Under Lyrics 23 years ago
It's so totally true that we are taught not to question authority, to go along with the flow, and even that at some point we have to sell our souls. This song is a rallying cry. UNLEARN the ideas that old people know everything, that the news always tells the truth, that speaking out disturbs everyone. RESIST when people star telling you that you smell like piss. DEFY the way the world is working!

Our Lady Peace – Potato Girl Lyrics 23 years ago
The idea of the girl being an angel is beautiful, but Drops is right about the "everything still happens anyway". I think the idea is that it's a normal girl but he is so deeply in love with her that he sees her as an angel, divine. Maybe he messed up his chances with her, which leads to his sort of bitter perspective about God not really caring.

Our Lady Peace – Sorry Lyrics 23 years ago
I agree that there is definitely a spiritual aspect, but I had thought of this great song more as a break-up song. The singer's girlfriend was never that good to him, and he has realized that it is alright to move on. He has been wasting time in a life that has not been fulfilling, and was blind believing that everything was alright. He opens up his eyes and sees that it's his time to move on. He says goodbye, and then focuses on seizing the day, which is what all of the "today" metaphors are about.
