| Gorillaz – Dracula Lyrics

This might be a stretch, but maybe he's talking about how there are some people that are just doomed to "tow the line" in life... to do all the grunt work so the rest of us, who are "out of reach," can live our lives happily.
And when you think about it, it kinda fits with 2D's obsession with horror movies. I'm a long-time fan of George Romero, and a persistent theme in a lot of Romero's films is the (now trite) concept of the working-class slaves having to rise against the rich fat cats in power to maintain their dignity and, ultimately, their lives.
"Some of us will never sleep again" is a quote from a Dracula movie, I think, and it could be that 2D is using that line as a reminder that behind the scenes of every society there are people working their asses off constantly to protect us and ensure that we can keep doing the things we do.
Or it could just be about drugs. |

This song is kinda depressing, but I still love it because I think in a way everybody can relate.
It's pretty much about that one girl you've always loved but you've always known you could never have. Even if she wasn't "talkin' to Cristopher Walken" on your TV screen, there was just something ethereal and unique about her that told you there was no chance in hell she'd ever end up with you.
And on that note, I'd like to say to the one I've lost: If you ever get back to Hackensack, I'll be here for you. |

| Fountains of Wayne – Yours And Mine Lyrics

Maybe I'm just being negative, but I always figured this mini-song was about the sun setting on a relationship. The couple's been together for a long time, but now their time together has reached its end and it's time to "divvy up the wine," just "Like everything else here." In a very separated sense, everything in their home is "yours and mine," meaning that "now it's time to decide what is mine and what is yours before our lives become separate once again."
"Picking up the paper/Coffee's been made" is indicative of their normal day-to-day activities; that is, picking up the newspaper and making coffee. This, however, will be the last time that they do these things together, as they are both "in the same mind" and know that the end is near.
I think the calm, quiet feel of the song is meant to show the narrator's acceptance of the end of their time together because, let's face it, sometimes there just isn't any way to save a relationship, no matter how much you love each other or how long you've been together.
Anyway, I love this little track and I always keep it on repeat for like twenty minutes at a time. |

I always thought this song was about having to abandon your dreams in search of a real "job." Like where he says, "Gonna move up that corporate ladder/Follow in the footsteps of all my friends." When was the last time you ever heard anybody (proudly) say they were following in the footsteps of their friends? He's saying that all his friends have sold out to the man, and he knows that sooner or later, he'll have to do the same. |

This reminds me of a period after my ex and I broke up (the same ex I mentioned in Desperate Now). For a long time, every face I saw was hers, every voice I heard was hers, and every dream I had was of her. Lasted a long-ass time, too... just goes to show you how awesome Stabbing Westward was at identifying negative emotions. |

I remember once my ex and I were having a fight, and both of us were really sad and upset... she had the stereo on and was listening to this song. I walked into the room, picked her up, and started dancing with her, trying to sing the lyrics. It was kinda pathetic, but it was my way of showing her that I cared and I didn't know where I would have been without her. |

No way, man! WM&MTR are a real group from Atlanta, and they rule. DJ Walrus Man spins while MC Rhymefish lays down the dope rhymes (even though they don't always rhyme). I'm the president of their fan club, and as soon as the Add Song feature comes back, there'll be more WM&MTR lyrics. |
