Gene Chandler – The Duke of Earl Lyrics 13 years ago
The Duke of Earl is Gene Chandler's supervillain alter ego. This song is basically a love song to his lady friend, telling her how lucky she is that she is with him and how happy they will be once he takes over the world.

Evidence supporting the supervillain interpretation:
1) Refers to himself in third person
2) Boasts that "nothing can stop" him, and that no one dares to hurt the object of his affections
3) Strong implication that he intends to turn the entire world into his "dukedom"

If I were you I'd try to hook up with Gene Chandler now. He evidently only intends to spare the life of his lady friend and if you wait much longer, it will be too late.

Weezer – Hash Pipe Lyrics 23 years ago
Lots of people like to complain about this song and the Green Album. But come on now. If a band waits five years between albums, do you seriously expect the new album to sound exactly like the old ones? If you did, go ahead, go back to your fantasy world and put "Tired of Sex" or "Only in Dreams" on repeat. Enjoy. Weezer is a different band now. They were a great band in the past. That's undeniable. But they are also a great band now. Different, yes, but great. "Hash Pipe" is an outstanding pop-punkish song, as are most of the other offerings on the Green Album. My opinion on the album is that if people went into it expecting it to be what it was, as opposed to hoping and praying for old Weezer, they'd like it a lot more. They proved it way back when with "Buddy Holly"; Weezer can do this kind of music better than anybody. Nothing wrong with that.

By the way, yeah, it's about a transvestite prostitute.

Blink-182 – Dammit Lyrics 23 years ago
exactly, dogg. and to NOFX, I think you miss the point a little bit. Most of the people you're arguing with dont' care about punk. They just listen to Blink because they like it. Odds are that most of them wouldn't like any of your "great punk bands" anyway. So what's the point of arguing about whether they're punk or not?

Stroke 9 – Kick Some Ass Lyrics 23 years ago
Not to disrespect SublimeNick, but this song is actually just making fun of bands like Limp Bizkit. You know, "you think you rhyme but you can't rap" and so on. However, the writer also is making fun of himself a little bit; he knows he's nothing more than a sensitive artist, nothing close to a badass; yet sometimes he kind of wishes he could be one, too. If you note the line "so write another song about bashing someone's head in", and you know the line "I think I'm gonna bash his head in" from Stroke 9's "Little Black Backpack", you understand how he's mocking himself a little bit.
