i'm sure the soma in this case is pertaining to huxley's BNW, but another soma is in the Rig Veda from Hinduism (i think), which was taken as a mind opening type of thing. just reminded me because of the "Hard times opened their eyes Saw pain in a new way" in the beginning...just a thought, no real significance i guess :)

ok, maybe it's just me (and emo glenn) but i think everyone needs to cease complaining about a band (or simply a singer with a guitar-whichever you prefer) becoming popular. Its essentially inevitable in many cases for a good artist that many people like ("underground" or not) to be discovered by more and more people that have not been familiar with the music in the past. And to shock many of you, i saw DC on mtv2 (gasp) and i now love the music, and i am by no means a "preppy-conformist" who is ruining the genre (or whatever emo is- i dont want to stir that issue up again!) for all who are tryin to protect it. let people (even if you dont like them) listen to whatever music the want to, if anything, the music provides a common ground to spite the differences between one group of people and another who may not have any similarites otherwise |

There is a live version of this song in which Dave says how he wrote it after his stepfather passed away and that it was somewhat from his mother's perspective (though he believes "she's much stronger than this character")... i think it's a beautiful song |
