This song actually isn't metaphorical at all, he really did recieve a letter from a fan from japan who really liked him after hearing a song off the blue album. And he really did obsess over her for quite some time. It's straightforward. That is true. it's rumored that in college he ran into this girl (she came over for school) and she didn't recognize him but he knew who she was, and he was too freaked out to introduce himself. I don't know that i beleive that. but I've heard several people say it. |

seriously you guys are dumb. This song is ABOUT them "selling out" he knew that that's what some stupid people would take away from this album, signing on a major label, changing their style a little (which ALL bands do over time) That's why the song is more poppy and has a repetative hook. It's all done like that on purpose, I think some of it comes from making fun of themselves a little bit, some of it mocking the people who like them for this song. It's also explaining a little why they did sign. you think against me! is going to be living comfotably staying underground for the rest of their career? you gotta retire sometime. and the rest of the album is not all that different from their other stuff. so you morons who claim to be against me! fans and dis this song, he's making fun of you. it's a simple concept, if you couldn't figure out this song you obviously didn't get a lot of their other stuff, just sounded smart to you right? |

I'm gonna take the easy surface meaning: It's about how awesome sex is, even though casual sex (fornication) is totally taboo in the bible and to religeous freaks. Like basically living life and sexing up whoever you want is "Better than Heaven" it's either that or what Shadoruner said =P he's pretty neat. |

One of the best songs ever. Leftöver Crack and The World/Inferno Friendship Society are awesome bands. i dont care if they dislike us west-coasters working in a record store i hear a lot of crap but when awesome comes along i know it and this is the epitome of awesome. After FINALLY getting my hands on Red-Eye Soul (WIFS) it made me want to post. To me it means life is what you make it and when your gone it doesnt matter we're all guilty anywayz and history has proves that while we dont forget the hard times, it doesnt matter cuz we repeat them anywayz. Hitler? Stalin? yeah they sucked but who cares? Ghandi, Mother Teresa? they they were pretty cool but who really cares? they are all dead and we all will be too so have a good one =D |

First off, In Flames is definitely the best metal band ever, when it comes to lyrics. Almost no other metal band has such thought-provoking lyrics. This song is definitely one of my favorites lyrically. Now in my oppinion i think all these people who think it's about natural desasters are wrong. I think it's about the pointlessness of war. There are a lot of "end of the world" references. I think it has to do with a lot of people's (specifically American's) views on war. I love the lines, "In times of make believe, no one really seems to care/Maybe I should care less, cause I'll die too." I think they're refering to people's desire to look away and "make beleive" everything is all-right. They have to force themselves not to care so they aren't so torn up about it inside. but looking away is just going to bring the end of the world/nuclear winter/etc. there's a ton of minutia i could go into but i'll just leave it with my technical critique. Not one of their best song musically, but the flow goes with the theme and the lyrics are extremely powerful. thats why it's one of my favorites of theirs. |

So fun, hooky beats, great stuff. and the into is probably one of the best of any song i've ever herd. i love the irony of the orgy sounds with the childishly happy synth beat. freaking awesome. There are alot of good ideas like mezdispencers, and im just onna expand upon it a little. The main part of the song is about how kids enjoy that life on the edge, but it catches up to them eventially "they were drinkin' from a fountain That was pouring like an avalanche, coming down the mountain." the water and the fountain are the things that hurt them but they still do anyway, but they eventually will ge washed away when the avalanche washes them away. the chorus is about how it's good to slow down and look at life, and the last like is saying "look at it through other people's eyes"because you have to see what you look like doing all these crazy kid things... (but he's not saying to stop, just to think about it) |
