Sufjan Stevens – The Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts Lyrics 20 years ago
maybe it's just because i'm from Joliet,IL, but i thought the "steel man" aspect was a reference to Joliet, since it historically has a steel mill and the school's team the steelmen, etc

Calibretto 13 – Little Gay Man Lyrics 21 years ago
okay, this isn't really the place to discuss theology, but God loves every person despite their sin, not once they stop. that is what is meant by Grace. The Bible does say that homosexual intercourse is a sin, but so is pride and self-righteousness that Christians can slip into (like the narrator in the beginning). the narrator discovers his fault, doesn't want to hate the gay man, realizes that even though he wants him to change, he is to love him too, regardless. that is a great message.

a satire doesn't have to be funny. i think it's rather effective as satire

Cursive – The Great Decay Lyrics 23 years ago
yeah, i know it's "cool" (for lack of a better word) to wallow in self-pitying "pointless" attitutes, but don't you think it should be considered that the song may be simply catharsis, and not a definately world-view? i certainly have purpose and meaning in my life, but that doesn't mean there aren't hard days where i want to just dismiss it all as a pain and dispair. there has to be some sort of balance, and i don't think this song stands as a testament to pointlessness, or why do anything, even writing a song?
