I can't say that I completely understand what the song was written about like- From the conscious to the ozarks to shouted sandinista But I definately love this song and I feel the same way-- Lady Liberty, come down and plea to me You had me to believe that the streets are paved in gold All you tell me not to worry About the short comings of lives and the high cost of living I actually wrote a poem that is along those lines. Good Song! |

there is one part that sticks out to me. and it hasn't been discussed (at least i don't think it has). We can have some more Nature is a whore Bruises on the fruit Tender age in bloom it sounds like a metaphor or something along those lines has something to do with being young and innocent- being "bruised" to early (having to face horrible reality at such a young age) If you go with what dopemonkey said than it could very well have something to do with his own childhood. and more about how different a lot of the kids that listen to his songs and think they understand him, had such a different childhood then he did. i think the main part of the song- He's the one Who likes all our pretty songs And he likes to sing along And he likes to shoot his gun But he knows not what it means etc... is about the people that listen to his songs and what their life has been like and the 2 smaller parts Sell the kids for food Weather changes moods Spring is here again Reproductive glands and We can have some more Nature is a whore Bruises on the fruit Tender age in bloom are about himself...and in comparisson to them i dunno just a thought-- |

This is such a great song....meaning acceptance, sincere caring for someone. The song sounds so vulnerable like- And I swear that I don't have a gun No, I don't have a gun, no, I don't have a gun he isn't afraid to say that he so deperately wants this person to just be with him.. he is imaptient for this person that he loves so much to return his feelings? Because he speaks so much in past tense it seems like he wants someone/something back. Maybe someone has left him because he broke their trust and now he is saying that he wants them back. He cares so much about this person that they could not return to him so different that he would not still feel this way. Does that make any sense?? Lines like -As a friend, as a friend As on old enemy make me think that it is about someone close to him...but who knows, tell me what you think. |
