Jars of Clay – Sing Lyrics 21 years ago
I love these songs for their simplicity, and as such, their inherant power... This one line says so much about so many people's walk with God:
"Bury my head for the shame, you pick me up, you say I look like you..."

Jimmy Eat World – Night Drive Lyrics 21 years ago
Personally, I would've sequenced the album so that this was the closing song, as it would leave me with the same emotions after the CD has stopped that "My Sundown" did... I absolutely love the beautiful sonic touches on the chorus:
"Kiss me with your cherry lipstick
Never wash you off my face
Hit me, I can take your cheap shots
Leave you with a lovely name"

It makes the hairs on my neck stand up! :-)

Jimmy Eat World – Drugs Or Me Lyrics 21 years ago
These lyrics are so powerful! The following couplet sums up my understanding of how drug addiction can affect your life:
"If only you could see
The stranger next to me..."

Jimmy Eat World – Pain Lyrics 21 years ago
I love this song too, but can I suggest a correction to the lyrics posted above. To me, it sounds like:
"It's a lie, A kiss with opened eyes
And she's not breathing back
Anything but bother me
(It takes my pain away)
Nevermind, these are horrid times
Oh, oh, oh
I can't let it bother me"

should read:
"...Nevermind, these are hurried times
Oh, oh, oh
I can't let it bother me"

It's like the speed, busyness and complexity of the narrator's life are being used as an excuse, and they are temporarily dismissing their fears... Not letting it bother them. I'd welcome anyone else's thoughts?

Jimmy Eat World – The World You Love Lyrics 21 years ago
It seems to me that a lot of the songs on the new album are related to addiction of some kind, probably to drugs. There always seems to be a positive spin though... A hope that things can change, and without that crutch, like here:
"it doesnt seem theres hope for me
i let you down
but i wont give in now
not for a million nows"

I love what I've heard from the new album, "Futures", and it's good to see that JEW haven't slipped at all. Far from it, in fact!
