This song is better lyrically than musically, but still good. I can relate because i have a friend thats pretty messed up, and whenever I try to help, I end up hurting myself. |

This song is saying, "I want so badly to hate you, but i can't because I love you." I think its great. I'm going through the same thing right now. Rough rough stuff. |

It's the Maynard way of saying he hates the dating game. It's all a bunch of shit we do in vain.

temporarily pacifying
it wasn't enough before, it won't be enough again. I know it's not worth it, but it feels good so i need it.

Christians have raped christianity. It started out as a religion based upon enlightenment, as Jesus often taught and said. But over the past 2003 years, it has developed into a purely politcal religion. tis devilry. |

I love this song. I can relate through my own pitiful failure of a love story. It's about putting all of your feelings for a person out in the open, and being let down. Testing them, and watching them fail. And after that, not knowing what to do, because you already put all of your feelings out there. Oh well, it happens to the best of us. |

Genious chord progressions, wise lyricks, and awe-inspiring delivery, this song has it all. I could not possibly think higher of it. I find myself in this song too. Sometimes I wonder how some of my friends can let themselves be such products of their pop-culture environment. So I listen to this song. My favorite part is the reintroduction of the chorus after the interlude. The progression is amazing. |

This song is how I wish love could be. Strong, beautiful, and a little secretive. |

This song is about someone just like some of my friends. I like how it is harsh, but sympathetic on the person it describes, because, even though they are kinda immature and live in a bit of a fantasy world, ya gotta love 'em. |

The progression of songs in the entire album is an amazing statement of phylosophy and spritituality without religion. Mega supergood stuff. It's more than any other band has ever done before. Thank you Matt, for introducing me to this awesome album.

This song is amazing. It touches me. Its got everything. Truly a testament that Incubus can do anything. I see this song as a continuation on "I Wish You Were Here." They are both about being without one's lover, and they both have water as a key element. "I wish you were here" is about when they are first separated, and he is standing at the shore, thinking what he should do, but all he can think of is how he wants his partner to be there. Aqueous Transmission is two weeks later, and, although he still misses his lover, he sees that they were both being carried away, that the "river"'s course could bring them back together, or it could not. And although he would prefer to be reunited, he has learned to take it either way. "Further down the river" signifies that things will change as time goes on, and he has now realized and accepted that, and has become content.
But yeah it would be a killer sex song too. |

In my opinion, the "you're always first when no one's on your side" quote means that, when you are single, you don't have to worry about anyone else, you are "first." But when he says "a day will/has come and i want off that ride," i think he's getting tired of having gotten rid of his partner, and he doesn't feel like being "first" anymore. The whole song is about not knowing what to do with your feelings about a person, or people. As cheesey as it sounds, thats what i got from it. |
