Um, I think it's about the end of a childhood friendship, rather than a parting between former sweethearts.
Count to one hundred puts me in mind of children's games such as hide and seek.
Remember the dream there = dream meaning a child's fantasies
The time you said goodbye = the singer's friend was either moving away or terminating their friendship for emotional reasons or they were growing apart
