Ok, here's what happened... Green Day was never banned. Billie Joe was banned along with all the members of Pinhead Gunpowder. They were caught drinking in the bathroom and told to leave. All the other members (excluding billie joe) showed up to a Gilman meeting and begged to be allowed back. As far as the "Bille Joe Must Die" on the wall, that was because people considered him a sellout. But who fucking cares, Green Day has played there since Billie Joe got 86'd. |

Let me just start off by saying I love this song. It's a great song. It kind of acknowledges (spelling?) a few of Jesse Michaels influences i.e.Joe Strummer (London Calling) Desmond Dekker (Midnight Marauder). From the title you would expect just a simple love song, but that is something it definitely isn't. In my opinion this song is about Jesse Michaels love for music. |

I think the song is about all the fighting in the east bay scene when Jesse Michaels was a teen. "Stand by your friends, wrong or right, can't call that justice if it's just a stupid excuse to fight" It's about fighting for your friends no matter the circumstance. Which Jesse was opposed to. He preached Unity, not Violence. Well I guess I could go into more detail, but I'm not going to. Op Ivy is dead... Now so is Common Rider, jesus christ, when is Jesse gonna stick with a band for more than a few years? |

I agree it's the best Common Rider song. It's about when Jesse Michaels was in high school. At Berkely High School (BHS). I think the line "thinkin we were rebels" kind of refers to them being "punks" and kind of being the outcast rebel types. But it's kind of a love song also.
