I really think this song is about the cosmetic industry, how they test on animals (rabbits) and its a waste of money being all made up, when you're just an animal anyways... rubber gloves - testing facilities... laughs when she's crying - when she cries, the animals tested on get their revenge, streaking down her face... cries when she's laughing - when she looks nice and has fun, its at the expense of all the mistreated, crying animals.... Christian suburbanite Washed down the toliet Money to burn - again, well off people who have nothing better to do but waste money on it... Fat bloody fingers are sucking your soul away - greedy corporations take your money... This song means "appreciate life" basically. Floyd's saying breathe in the air, enjoy what humans were meant to enjoy as intelligent beings. Leave, break away from monotony and typicality, but dont leave or forget your loved ones at the same time. Look around and find your own ground, path, existence. Too many people get caught up digging holes one after another, it's almost senseless. Ride the wave, but if you concentrate on getting the biggest wave you'll miss out on life and eventually get an early grave. Enjoy existence, because after you're time is up, all your life has been are those laughs and tears, touches and sights, your memory man. |
