Thrice – See You in the Shallows Lyrics 22 years ago
untilmylastbreath - you are a jackass. 2 members of Thrice are Christian, 2 aren't. bitch. The song is about conformity, he's just playing on the cliche "if everybody else jumped off a cliff would you" and using it as a metaphor for societal conformity.

Thrice – So Strange I Remember You Lyrics 23 years ago
Johnny GT, eat a dick. I listen to NFG, and I am a Christian. I'm also coincidentally 18 years old, which means im not a "little eighth grade poser piece of shit". In fact, my guess is that by your belligerent language you can't be more than 14 years old yourself. Your ignorance and disgusting language once again prove that the world is full of ignorant people who need to let others live their own lives. Maybe you should try going to church, it could teach you a thing or two. Those hateful words are gonna put you in hell faster than you'd believe, so yah have fun eternally burning. Oh yah, Thrice is the best.

The Juliana Theory – Into The Dark Lyrics 23 years ago
I want to take the scope of this song one step more general and say it's about ANYONE in ANY type of deeply intense situation, and how it is our duty as humans/friends/family/loved ones to have humanity and try to help anybody in need of help, whether that be the contemplation of suicide, drug addiction, depression, anything. I think that the subject's being on his own in the "world" is the isolation that we often experience when we are having a problem, both from the world and ourselves....We choose to bury our emotions rather than expose them, which is the personal "hell" that I feel he is talking about...But that's just me.

Finch – Three Simple Words Lyrics 23 years ago
I think that when he says "did i see forever in you" he's simply implying how much more committed to her he was than her to him. To him, the "innocent" boy, everything was perfect and the time came for him to tell her he loved her, but when she didn't reply it made him realize that he did over-shoot and expect more out of the relationship. Also, if you look at all the tracks, the CD falls into place (excuse the play on words) as a typical relationship does, from "new beginnings" and the up-slope (post script), the pain felt when she's not around (without you here), the fight that starts the end (project mayhem), and finally ender, with WIITB being the culmination of everything the relationship resembled. Well, that's how I see it. It's probably written somewhere and i subconsciously picked it up because I'm really not that smart when it comes to looking at stuff wholistically. So, placing TSW right before ender, think of it as the final step in the end of the relationship, where they are both so drained of emotion, but he is trying to salvage what little is left. She however feels differently, and leaves. The strangling imagery is so powerful, almost as if the inner rage and confusion is the cumulative outcome of all the passion he had for the relationship and the negative reaction. But yah, listen to the CD beginning to end and think about the emotions you feel in a relationship and watch how the CD mirrors the flow almost exactly....Amazing...I wonder if they meant it to be that way or it just worked out like that?!

Thrice – Deadbolt Lyrics 23 years ago
K so I read the first couple dozen posts, and here's my take on it. Jake's biblical reference is completely correct. Dustin writes about religion so much, "identity crisis" "To What End" "Ultra Blue" Where Idols once Stood" I could go on and on. The fact is, he writes lyrics that describe issues far beyond the literal translation and always includes several metaphorical layers to maintain ambiguity in his lyrics. This way everyone can take from the song what they feel, and as the saying goes "to each his own" (used a bit improperly, but you get what im saying). Think about it, how much more fulfilling is it to write lyrics that can be taken so many different ways rather than simply the literal and direct translation?! And anyone who says Thrice can't write about religion or faith, is purely ignorant, as there are countless references, like the songs I've stated before.
