Rufus Wainwright – Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics 23 years ago
To me, this song is about love and how complicated it is. How it is happy and sad at the same time. It's all about taking the bad with the good. My favorite lines are, "Love is not a victory march / it's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah" - love is ugly, yet beautiful. And, "I remember when I moved in you / the holy dark was moving too / And every breath we drew was Hallelujah" - amazing... it's not just sex, it's about unity -- about becoming one with the person you love, and that's beautiful. Wonderful song.

Sarah McLachlan – Possession Lyrics 23 years ago
This song is about an obsessed fan. Sarah herself said on VHI Storytellers, "I wrote this song to try to get into the shoes of the obsessed fan so that I can try to find a way to deal with it." So, there you go. It's told from the fan's point of view. This song is amazing. I know that Sarah wrote it about an obsessed fan, but that doesn't mean it has to have that exact meaning for everyone else. We listen to music because it touches us -- because we can relate to it. To me, this song perfectly describes how I feel about someone who I am in love with, but they don't love me back. I desperately want to show this person how I feel about them... I want to kiss them so hard and take their breath away. I yearn for them and I just want to be with them so badly -- I want them to love me and notice me. I'm alone and sad, and I want this person to fill this emptiness inside of me. I love this song. It means so much to me. The lyrics are beautiful and Sarah's voice is incredible.

Sarah McLachlan – Fumbling Towards Ecstasy Lyrics 23 years ago
I think that this song is about learning to accept everything that comes with love... including all of the bad things. You have become afraid of love because bad things have happened when you loved someone, and you feel as though love is painful and you become afraid of it. This song is about growing and becomign strong and realizing that love isn't perfect -- that it CAN'T be perfect.

Sarah McLachlan – Sweet Surrender Lyrics 23 years ago
To me, this song is about living in pain and sorrow for so long that you have just decided to give up. You find something at the end of the road... something beyond the darkness that you have lived in for so long... and you just decide to surrender. Beautiful. I love Sarah. She's amazing. This song is wonderful.

Sarah McLachlan – Full Of Grace Lyrics 23 years ago
I first heard this song on the second season finale, Becoming Part 2, of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And it was the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. To me, this song is about someone living in pain and sorrow and feeling like they can't love someone because they are in such a dark place. It is so beautifully depressing. It's my absolute favorite Sarah Mclachlan song. I cry every single time I listen to it. I can totally relate to the lyrics. When she sings, "It's just that we stayed too long in the same old sickly skin" it takes my breath away. Just the way she sings that is amazing. The way she sings the entire song is amazing. She is an incredible singer with a wonderful voice and her music is magnificant.

Sarah McLachlan – Angel Lyrics 23 years ago
Beautiful song. To me, it's about losing someone... whether it be yourself or someone in your life. It's about feeling alone and empty. About things that you have done in the past that you now regret. About living in pain and fear and sorrow. Sarah is incredible.

Sarah McLachlan – Adia Lyrics 23 years ago
To me, this song is about feeling as though you have let someone down. Sarah is singing about Adia, a person who is troubled. Sarah feels responsible for Adia... she feels obligated to be Adia's should to lean on, and she tries to help Adia but Adia just isn't able to heal. Thus, Sarah feels like she has failed Adia. Also, I think that maybe "Adia" is really Sarah. Sarah is singing about how she has tried to love herself and feel whole, but to no avail. She's empty and lost, and she is upset that she has lost herself. My favorite line in this song is, "I leave you with your misery/a friend who won't betray". I can really understand that. When you feel so alone and sad, all you have is your misery. Even though your misery hurts, it's always there, no matter what. This song is beautiful. Sarah is amazing. I love her.
