i like how he uses the metaphor of the pheonix in this song. in case u didnt know, the pheonix isw a LEGENDARY (not extinct) bird, who every few hundred years(or somethin, im a little rusty on my lengends) would burst into flames and out of the "ashes and the embers" of the last bird, a new one would be born... so when he sings this: No regrets, just rebirth move forward, and ignite. Incandescent Reinvention a new renaissance A NEW FIRE EACH DAY hes talking about how every day you have a new chance at life, and you should live everyday to the fullest, like it was the last. just like a pheonix would... lol thats just my opinion, songs have a different meaning for everyone ;) |

| Thrice – Identity Crisis Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| this song is about an internal decision that has to be made or an intense problem that has to be solved. i sincerely think thaat when he says "i put all my trust in you" and when he says "a calculated risk to further bless thy name" and "i will live and die both unto you", he is referring to God. hes asking for guidance | |

i think this song is about how people who are loved never really die. "so friend u must still walk among us, in places we dont dare to glance." our friends and family will always be in our hearts |

| noweyeslie is right... ppl are too narrow minded, but the song is much more general than that | |
| Thrice – See You in the Shallows Lyrics | 23 years ago |

no way this song is about suicide. thrice uses suicide as a metaphor... to signify the leap of faith you have to take for god, or for that matter, for anything you love. |

| Thrice – As The Ruin Falls Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
well here is the original poem by C.S. Lewis: As the Ruin Falls All this is flashy rhetoric about loving you I've never had a selfless thought since I was born I am mercenary and self-seeking through and through I want God, you, all friends merely to serve my turn Peace, reassurance, pleasure are the goals I seek I cannot crawl one inch outside my proper skin I talk of love, a scholar's parrot may talk greek but, self-imprisoned, always end where I begin Only that now you have taught me, but how late my lack, I see the chasm and everything you are was making my heart into a bridge, by which I might get back from exile and grow man... and now the bridge is breaking For this I bless you as the ruin falls the pains you give me are more precious than all other gains. _C. S. Lewis_ this poem (and song) is about how a man was with a woman for a while and all he ever thought about was himself..."i spoke of love, a scholars parrot may talk greek", < he thanks her, now, for teaching him about love. he does this saying "for this i bless you as the ruin falls, the pain you bring, far greater than all other gains" |
