so this song has officialy changed my life. my life was just starting to pull apart at the seams when i made my last post, but that's another matter. i went to study whales in baltimore this past summer. the first part of it was on a 100-foot 1800's-style fishing schooner for nine days, from baltimore to gloucester, mass. when we were going through the long island sound, i was on bow watch at night. During the day, bow watch is fairly simple: watch out for crab pots and logs, and if you see them, tell whoever's at the helm so they can avoid it and not fuck up the boat. but at night, the job is essentially pointless. you're not going to see any crab pots, it's too dark. your job becomes that of looking out for flashing buoys. which there aren't many in the long island sound. so i was just staring into the abyss the whole time, thinking philosophically, thinking of my life. I asked a crew member if I could listen to my CD player. They said sure, but quietly, so if they needed me, they could get me. There wasnt any other noise, so it was fine to have it quietly. i put in my copy of this, one i ripped directly from my sister. i fast-forwarded to the middle of "intro" and closed my eyes and began to listen. the chorus, i guess it is, an that sonar-like "ping," coupled with staring into the endless dark (and fog) ahead of me, and my inner turmoil due to shit at home, and i began to cry, but happily. I just thought about everything, and for a while i was serene. the most serene i have ever been. i was at peace for the first time in my life. that's all for me, i suppose. later. |

why are we still talking about this? it is futile and pointless. if you condone abortion, you are wrong, and if you are against it, you are wrong. making an anti-abortion song is as pointless as making an anti-glacier song. i avoid taking a stance on this issue until the issue makes me confront it. which i know is an asshole thing to do and i dont care. |
