ok here's another comment on this song......3 months on to the day! I've been through hell and back in the last couple years, and the last couple months particularly, through depression. while I still hold the position that this song may be a bout depression, I also think that he's singing to a girl who has a messed up view of herself, whatever that may be. depression often makes you think that you're something you're not (normally bad) and so this song has given me a lot of hope through the last couple months. I see this song as being about someone trying to build worlds of their own... it's God talking to them about what they're trying to do and what they keep trying a failing to do and 'don't you think it's My time anythime soon?' it also has the hope in there as well which is important because it shows that through all the stuff ups we do, God knows what's happening and there is a hope, a light at the end of the tunnel. :) Jah bless! I agree with the comments made that this is about struggling with faith but also I see it as possibly from the view of someone who knows the truth but chooses to ignore it or disbelieve it because they'd rather live for themselves and live the life that they see as free, which is actually only full of bindings, 'so I could walk where I don't belong'. anyway...... that's my $0.02 Jah bless! I agree with distant on that but also this is a song that meaning a lot to me as being about just trusting in God. For me, he's talking to God about some situation in his life (eg the music industry and people seeing some idea about him or something) and stressing about that and feeling alone in that and questioning God - the endings are alright? the endings are all good? about whether God really is working things for good for him or not, then realising that God IS there, and the questions change to statements of faith - no ? marks :D that's just my $0.02 tho. just a comment, people are talking about this being about God because of the lyrics blah blah blah. I'm another Jesus Freak who LIKES being called that, and I agree with the christian point of view bit, but I'd also like to point out how this song was written. this song was written just like basically every other POD song - music first. on the website it used to (it's mostly down currently) say that they wrote this and they were calling it Beautiful becuase that's how it made them feel. It's a song about life and seeing things differently. I agree with most people's ideas of what it's about. It's about self discovery, it's a song to God, it's about how you see things differently when you become a Christian, it's about not taking things for granted and it can also be used to express how you feel when you come out from being depressed (believe me I've been there). but above all, to me, it's a song about life and seeing it for the beautiful thing it is, and thanking God for it. that's a long comment, but it took that long for me to say what I wanted to say. this is one of their best songs I think. it's very upfront, very 'this is me and what I believe' and to killpop - that's the idea of the song. it's supposed to be an in your face song! if you don't like it, you don't have to read it and don't have to listen to it. Jah bless! |
