This whole album, The Ugly Organ, is a masterpiece! It's so amazing! Anyways, at first I didn't understand this song, but when I like the lyrics I have to analyze the song. I'm pretty sure I get what it's about...but this whole album is full of stories, so whether it is a story or a personal experience, I can't say...I don't know the band. This song is full of imagery, he describes this perfect place where a girl and her mother live, and then he imagines this whole situation about how the mother is and does she have a man in her life and stuff...and he (the singer) is the father of the girl, Sierra. The mother and Sierra are no longer in his life and he desperately wants them back, but everything is different, and he can't have that...even though he's now realized it's the most important thing to him. Beautiful song. |

Oh I have this song down. Every line in this song adds up to a metaphor for...life in general. I think that it might be about relationships. The first verse I think is about him finding something out that he doesn't want to believe, so he thinks about it and thinks about it and finally realizes it all at once. It's an ironic song. The power lines line is about trying to fix a problem or hide from something that can't be escaped. I LOVE the line "it's a luscious mix...etc.," it is one of the best lyrics I have ever read - along with a lot of the rest of the song, that is. The only other metaphoric type line that takes deciphering is "one day i'll be wondering how, etc." I think he's saying that he's been getting by pretty good for a long time while doing all the wrong things. |
