| Strapping Young Lad – Skeksis Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
In case you were wondering SKEKSIS are the dark race from Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal. By the end of the movie as the planets are aligned the Dark Crystal is repaired and the evil Skeksis and peaceful Mystics are reunited to their former selves -- the Urskeks. And there is once again balance to the universe. Much like an equation being solved... hmmm. |

| Marilyn Manson – Cryptorchid Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
First off this song is called cryptorCHID not *CHILD. what that means who knows? but there it is. the person who submitted these lyrics left out some crucial backing vocals. Anyone who's heard this song knows what i'm talking about. Each time I make my mother cry An angel dies and falls from heaven [when they get to you] It changes the whole tone of the song, this line especially. He's saying that doing bad things as a kid kills an angel... or so "they" would have you believe. Whether or not someone is told this as a kid directly, i don't know. But, anyone who has grown up with religion has probably encountered some frightening scenarios like this at some point. Doom and gloom if you misbehave. Hell awaits and all that. Lyrically an amazing song. But, musically... sheesh. It gives me the shivers every time. Phenomenal. |

| Seals & Croft did this originally. | |
| Marilyn Manson – Tourniquet Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Um.... ...hmmm... Rasputina's version is... umm... not good... in my opinion. Sorry. Musically they put an interesting twist on it but... weak, spoken-word vocals can't convey the same emotion as Marilyn Manson's under-praised pipes. |

| Nirvana – Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
"Beliefs are dangerous. Beliefs allow the mind to stop functioning. A non-functioning mind is clinically dead. Believe in nothing" Take it how you want. But for me this quote has nothing to do with an afterlife, but with the here and now; with having an open mind. IN MY OPINION a BELIEF closes a door; limits one's ability to think for themself; and may in fact displease any god you pray to by assuming to know without doubt -- or proof (my definition of a belief) that something is or is not. Only a god could have such confidence. All we can do is think; theorize; speculate. Even proof is fallable. |

I love this song! The music is bad-ass. And the lyrics... well, it's Harry Chapin. Enough said. He was probably the best musical storyteller ever. |

| I love to just crank this song in my car at night and sing a long. If I had a girl I'd probably have a diferent use for it though. haha | |
| Type O Negative – In Praise Of Bacchus Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
Bacchus was the greek god of wine and wine making. He's usually portrayed as a jolly, red-faced... drunk basically, surrounded by his many friends (wood nymphs -- but that's not really important) Knowing that, the title and the first four lines seem to me to represent that the narrator is drunk or desperatly trying to become so, in order to drown his pain. He's actually talking to Bacchus as if he's his only friend. |

Seriously. I agree with most of you that religion is not for me. However, notice who maintained a respectable, even loving tone in his post - Jimmy. Currsing and hating his beliefs makes you just as responsible for "hold[ing] back the development of mankind" as anyone else. Every religion, every person has something to teach us. Listen. I choose to reason it this way: All religions are wrong, because all of them are right. "Beliefs are dangerous. Beliefs allow the mind to stop functioning. A non-functioning mind is clinically dead. Believe in nothing" (Not sure who to quote that to. Could be Maynard James Keenan. I found it in the liner notes of Aenima) |
