i think this song is about accepting changes in life. this was the last song dylan played at the infamous newport concert (where he was booed for going electric) and the last song on Bringing It All Back Home (his last album that was mostly acoustic) i think he is just saying it is time for him to move on creatively(sp?) |

dylan hasn't played hurricane live since 1976 (long before carter was released), but i don't know the reason why. whether carter was guilty or not, the injustice was the fact that he wasn't given a fair trial. |

actually, the motorcycle accident was after highway 61 was released. some people say this song is about the holocaust, but i don't know about that. i think it is more about the isolation and condemnation of innocent people. only my opinion, i could be right or wrong. |
