this song sorta makes me think of faye singing to spike. only one problem though, she was never this open in her feelings until the very end of the show. |

I have some wild theories to add here. They don't really have much to do with mirrors, but that in itself could be a metaphor. Anyway, I think the second paragraph ("It lies unknown") is about the Fellowship of the Ring and their entrance to Moria, the hidden gate being the door they had trouble with, the lord of the water could be the octopus-like creature living in the lake. The fourth paragraph ("Gone's the wisdom") could be a reference to the fall of Gandalf. The paragraph after that depicts Frodo's inner conflicts about striking out on his own. "Of bliss and cheerful laughter" could be his memories of the Shire and the next lines convey his hopelessness. The line about the leader could be talking about Gollum and how he lead them to Mordor. And yeah, that's where I lose it... |
