I think Conar Could Be the Next Kurt Cobain -Justin44
Don't ever say that. Kurt Cobain is a joke. Also, to clear this up, Conor isn't emo, his newer stuff is folk and his older stuff is hard rock, emo is American Nightmare. |

Such a great song. As Sid Vicious said, "I don't want to live this life if I can't live it for you." This song might be kind of like that, rather be dead than not having love. |

Well, he is from Washington, so he is literally saying that he is going back to the place where he came from. It can be construed as maybe changing on the road or maybe living in Chicago and changing. I don't want to over analyze, but it is a good song none-the-less. |

His voice is amazing on this track. Does anyone know the story of the schoolmaster's son? Before I read the lyrics, I thought it might have been he crashed the car with the the son in the car and he died, but with the line, "That was the night I heard of fighting" it seems unlikely. |

| Bright Eyes – Let's Not Shit Ourselves (To Love and to Be Loved) Lyrics

Could the song be about suicide? I was getting ready this morning (6/3/04) at around 5:00 so I was quite tired but it came to me. The lines about pills and whiskey, obviously about trying to kill himself. Then the "worse things being alone" is about that being alone is not the worst possible thing on Earth, so it isn't the greatest reason for suicide. It seems like all of the other verses are about his apathy with this life and the people in it. That is just a rough sketch of what I think, don't murder me. |

You guys are trying to hard on an analysis (not sure if I spelt that right, having a block on that spelling right now, ever get those?). It is just about a car ride. Look at the "Freakish" video and the video from the Craig Kilborn show. He has scars... but scars from pimples. It is just about driving home with someone and them taking his picture. |

It really angers me that multiple artists can actually sit here and say the same messages how "oh man, I grew up tough" and actually have white-suberbia buy the albums and think that they have tough lives. It also angers me how these people now have millions of dollars and they claim that they still have "love for the streets"... I believe it was. Yes, you show it living in a mansion probably six states away. Also, how can these people make so much but not have any talent or work as hard. I can go into a recording studio, hand the guy money and just start talking to a beat about how tough my life is and then just make it look like that I am "thug-life" and bam, there's about five million dollars worth of recording and touring and endorcements because hip-hop is a trend and all of these brainless morons will listen to whatever society tells them to do, to keep cool and up-to-date. Be an individual, the United States was built on leaders, not followers. Emo is awesome! |

Ok, I don't think that any songs on the record are good and none of the lyrics are deep. My friend told me to listen to the song and to follow with the lyrics. Well, if the guy didn't find it necessary to have to speak in the deepest voice possible (he's not singing) and also find it necessary to have to say the most annoying and unintelligent lyrics ever than maybe society wouldn't so bad and there would be more toleration amongst the teenagers in society. It's like neo-nazi music, they keep you angered and chant manipulative proracist views into you going out and hanging black people. Rap actually makes white suberbia actually think that they have their lives in danger due to gang bangs and find it necessary to sell illegal drugs to people. The song has no meaning, so I can not comment on what the song means, unless if the song is actually trying to get with an unclassy slut while out on the town attached to a beat that gives me a headache. If that was their purpose, than congradulations, you just made a complete fool of yourself and a Neandrathol could've made a better album. Long live emo! |

| Thursday – Paris in Flames Lyrics

In concert Geoff says: "This song is about alienation, it's called 'Paris in Flames'", but no matter how much I try to think the statement just gets more complex. Because I read these comments and you say it's about a drag bar being crashed and everything, but why would it be about alienation? So finally I figured it out, I put Geoff's comments and your comments into one complete thought. He's saying that the people that're "different" are isolated into groups and rejected from society. |

Hey, the comments are for expressing the song, not having arguments like a bunch of bitchy preps. From the lyrics you can think that Thom Yorke was writing about like a father never being around because of going on business trips or "Crushed like a bug in the ground", having him saying that everyone treats him bad. The real meaning is losing yourself. |

| The Smashing Pumpkins – Disarm Lyrics

"I use to be a little boy, so old in my shoes, and what I choose is my choice, what's a boy suppose to do?" He is talking about being beaten all the time and is like an adult due to the fact that he must act like one by his abussive parents. And not too many children are put into that situation.
"The years burn" The years that he should be enjoying his youth and being burned away.
"A killer in me is a killer in you" You abussed me, now I'm violent and pissed off at the world. The expression, 'Like father, like son', that's what he's saying here, you're a killer of my youth, I'm a killer of society.
"Disarm you with a smile" I'm acting like I love you but someday I'll have revenge.
"Cut their little child" he's being abussed.
Basically, he was abused and wanted to kill his parents but didn't have the guts so he wrote the song. |
