I agree with you to a degree, Lester. Axl does in fact say he loves this person. "Deep inside I love you best"...um, I think that kinda takes away a good portion of your theory. Great song though, very beautiful. I've felt like this, thinking about the person non-stop and wanting nothing more than to be with them but it doesn't always end up as such which this song hints at. It just seems more like Axl was in love with this girl but she didn't feel as strongly. |

| Yeah, you are all right. It WAS about Erin Everly, Axl said so. It is about being so incredibly in love with this women. However, it takes a twist at the end when Axl asks, "Where do we go now?" He's having doubts about it and thinking that there's nothing else for them to do. They've done everything together and it seems like he's hinting at that it's time for it to end. They had good, loving times but it's time to just let it rest at that before it gets bad (which, inevitably, happened in his relationship with Erin). | |

This song is also about a relationship that didn't go so well. He felt bad and was willing to share his love but he was disillusioned by this love that he didn't see the person for what they really were. "We'll get a taken for a ride By a parlor trick or some words of wit A hidden hand up a sleeve To think that the one you love could hurt you now Is a little hard to believe But everybody darlin' sometimes bites the hand that feeds" It shows how he's trying to find help from his friends but they may not really understand completely what he's going through. The last line of "But... it is written if the evil spirit arms the tiger with claws Brahman provided wings for the dove" is absolutely beautiful. If violent harm is coming to you, just walk away, don't stay in that situation. |

| This song is very special to me. I listened to this over & over again after my break-up. The lyrics really applied to the guy I was with and it had ended very badly. There was no more trust or affection or understanding just as the lyrics say of the relationship this song is about. It's like, "Yeah, it ended really badly and there's so many awful things you could do to that person but be the bigger person and not drop to that level." I love the line "'Cause playful hearts can sometimes be enraged", it shows that he tried and was very loving but this person pushed him too far, instilling anger in him to this person he thought he would never feel like that towards. | |
