this sone seems to be about experiencing turbulence or a break up... and knowing that your partner is wrong. in love, timing is everything. sometimes, you've just got to wait for the head and heart to align. the head says one thing, but the heart says another. I know that his head says that it's what we need to do... and no matter how well we got along, the timing is horrible and we've got to part ways. But how could he cry so much (even as he clutched onto me so hard that he was shaking as and told me how much he loved me..) if he felt that this was the right choice? it's what his head needs... even if his heart is conflicted...? Sometimes you've just got to let someone go so that they can discover what they need. but I'll be damned if it doesn't hurt my heart. |

being in a long distance relationship, i can really relate to this song. When your hours together are so limited that a countdown to the end begins as soon as you arrive, you want to be lucid for as much of it as possible. Sleep just feels like such a waste of precious time. there are so many moments when i just don't want to fall asleep because I know that when I wake up I'll have to leave... and I don't know when I'll see him again. ... i'd give anything for just another minute. |

beautiful song. an interesting thing about it is that when she performs it live, the crowd is totally silent. it's as though everyone is just soaking it all in... letting their hearts wrap around it. when it is over, they all errupt into this huge, roaring applause. I've seen her twice, and it was the same with each performance. everyone had so much respect for her and this song. |

I've always loved this song, but I don't think that I ever really understood it until last night. I was at the Wallflowers concert in Cleveland and for whatever reason I just had an epiphany about it. this song is about someone who is strong and doesn't allow their partner to ever take care of them. When they start to get sick, their partner sees it as an opportunity to finally be there for them. There’s so little time left So much to be done Even you are going to need someone I will bury you in Just to dig you out I haven’t a use For being proud he doesn't care about being proud... he just wants to take care of his partner (who normally won't allow any help) and help them feel better. :-) |
