i agree with butterflylove82, it could definitly be read as about growing up, and watching your dreams fade, seeing how things have changed. and also a correction, i dont think its "And then be coming back to you every mornin" but i think he says " and if you're coming back, i'll see you in the morning" i love the line "im just staring at the ceiling staring back at me, just waiting for the daylight to come crawling in on me" i have quoted that many times, and it is so perfect. while up all night, he starts to reflect on all his dreams that have slipped or are slipping away, and all he is doing is lying there waiting for morning to come, so he can shake all these thoughts. and yes the music totally compliments the lyrics and accents his amazing voice |

i agree with everything thats been said already, and i hope this comes out on a cd soon. im seeing them in concert tonight actually (YAY) but yea i love the lines "there's things that aren't worth giving up, I know, when you cant bare to carry me, I'll fight, you live the life you're given with the storms outside and some days all I do is watch the sky " i think it shows him struggling, but he knows he cant give up certain things, and when he can no longer rely on someone else, he has to rely on himself.. kinda saying you gotta carry on even when there are storms outside. bottom line- dont give up! |

i agree with CountMyCrows completely and i know what ur saying. and i love that line. this song is definitly about wanting to change or waiting for something new to come along, bc all ur friends have already taken the next step. so its about changes you had hoped to make, and bitterly realizing they never happened. "Tonight I watch the lights go out in your house Wondering how I could get so deep And you could still get sleep " these lines totally capture the feeling of getting in over your head in something and quesitoning how the other person is dealing with these same emotions. the "destiny gets nervous" line is truly poetic. he used destiny to comment on how the two are destined to be together, but the nervousness is both of them in the beginnning realizing that they should be together, realizing their destiny. Why all the references to atlanta tho?? |

i am reallllly surprised about that "biggest let down" thing.. where was that from?? after reading it over, the getting screwed over by manager idea makes sense. lines like "living in a world created to destroy" show the harsh realities of the music industry, and "knowing now what i shouldve known then" is him seeing how he has been screwed over. he wants another chance to prove himself and his music and maybe even et revenge on the manager, but the whole point of the song is that he no longer has the opportunity. as seen in mostly in the chorus. On the other hand, i liked to think this was more about a relationship... similarly about a girl who wouldnt give him another chance. he is saying despite everything that happened, if she gave him the time of day, he could still be "ruthless" as in unwilling to give up. as much as i love this song, the message does kind of bother me... the whole idea that he would be ruthless if she let him bothers me. i feel that if you care about someone or something that much, you would be ruthless about it regardless if they let you or not.... isnt that what ruthless really means?? overall awesome song and you can totally hear the emotion in his voice. |

haha.... very well said.. ok yes i see the stalking bit.. but i think moreso than that, he poetically and lyrically showed how much he needs this girl in his life. it seems like that moment of desperation when someone is threatening to leave, and that initial panic, realizing that you are nothing without the other person. i think he chose these "stalkerish" lyics to show how desperately he needs this person... regardless-- awesome song and cd! |

i think LittleGreen was pretty accurate with both ideas. he is def speaking globally about the idea of lost love that doesnt ever fade away. time can pass, but these memories and this love will not fade away. its a beautiful song and i love the guitar! i am still confused with the lines "the man in my shoes runs the light all the papers lie tonight but falling over you is the news of the day " any one want to help? |

i definitly agree with all of ur interpretations, but i think rather than someone ending a relationship with him, he is the one breaking it off. maybe it wasnt working for whatever reason, and he is "so resistant to this type of thinking" aka problems in a relationship.. he still wants to "taste her love" and be with her, but there is something not right with the relationship and he cant stay in it. the photograph i think would leave the girl something to remember him by, and maybe the girl would be laughing bc he couldnt handle a relationship thats wasnt perfect. also, in terms of the "Ghost" idea... Maybe this "Ghost" is from a past relationship.... reminding him of how this love is supposed to be. when this new relationship is not the same, he cant deal..... just an idea!! |
