does this song remind anyone else of No Woman No Cry? I swear, after everytime they play the drums and melody after "we'll be alright" I expect to hear "No woman, no cry, no woman no cry" anyway, not a Phish or Dead fan, this is the only song of theirs I like, but everyone is def. entitled to their opinion. |

I believe that this song is about trying to tear yourself away from someone you love, but who is causing you pain. trying to separate yourself from them because it hurts too much to stay connected and to need that person, but yet you love them so much that you just can't let go. I am currently in this same situation, I still love my ex g/f with all my heart and soul and it hurts so much because she is currently seeing someone else. there is a void in my heart where she belongs, and I'm not strong enough to let her go. i am "too connected to slip away, to fade away" we shared so much and our lives were so connected that I still feel her "days away, touching me, changing me." anyway, this is an amazing song, and it really touches me with the pain of a lost love right now. I do not think it is about heroine, Maynard is far too serious about his music and his message to let drugs dull his intellect and intuition. also recall from Aenema "fuck all you junkies and fuck your short memories." he seems to look down upon junkies as being scum- which I agree with. |
