AHHH, you're all wrong. This IS a Get Up Kids song, but it's actually a cover. It's originally a New Order song. James is in the Get Up Kids, but simply as a keyboardist. He may do some back up singing here and there, but the lead singer is Matt Pryor. Again however, it's the GUK's bassist Rob Pope who is in fact singing this song, and he is the singer in several other GUK songs including "Beer for Breakfast" (also off Eudora) "Campfire Kansas" and more. |

Yea, it's Rob Pope, and yea that whole Anniversary thing is true, and it's definatly about that, as is most of their newest album. If you don't know, Rob was married to the co-singer/keyboard player of The Anniversary, and because of that, tguk helped out the Anniversary a ton...like getting them on Vagrant. Basically she cheated on Rob with the other singer of the Anniversary (I'm like 98% sure it was the singer). Bitchy whore slut! Poor Rob. But as you may have seen, the Anniversary also died, so hahahahahhahahahahha! |

I think it's about Blake being other people through his music. When he writes music, he often writes as a character, then people believe he is that person, but he never was. Kids (or maybe even him) listen to music, and it makes them feel better, and they relate to the singer and love him for feeling like they do, but really the singer never felt it in the first place. I think it's kind of an apology in a way.

Sefler was the band Chris had right before Saves the Day. It had most, if not all of the original Saves the Day guys in it. They changed the name though because they decided it was to weird. I believe a sefler is someone who has sex with santa, or something really weird like that.
Sefler had some good stuff, but Saves the Day evolved. It really is bascially the same band. At least Sefler and the Can't Slow Down era of STD. |

This is a great song and I think it kind of embodies all of perfecting lonliness. The cover of the album and the song kind of go together...at least in my mind. (my mom found the lyrics of it on my bed and thought I was suicidal...hmmm). I don't know if this is personal experience, or just a story Blake is trying to tell, as many of his songs are. Either was it's a beautifully sad song and ends the album perfectly. And since we haven't heard from JTB since their last August tour, and their website is gone (and hadn't been updated since march 2003),..perhaps it's the ending song of JTB altogether...though I really hope I'm wrong. |

I always listen to Four-Cornered Night, and this song when I travel on plane's. It's my travel CD. I hate flying and it always comforts me, especcially(sp?) when I last flew and I was in coach class row 13 both ways. I definatly think of it as a letter to various people and his hope that he won't die is a painful, firey death. |

Also, like some of you have said, Matt doesn't believe in anything. He does however, read and respect the teachings of Anton LeVey (I think that's his name, correct me if I'm wrong). He's the founder of Satanism and all that stuff. He's into getting in touch with your "animalistic side." Stuff like that. Matt all into that and says that's why he has trouble keeping a relationship.
So I think it's really a tounge-in-cheek song. He does really bless the dark father, but he's definatly not into God. Fun song on the guitar too. |
