This song, to me, is all about how the only new frontier left to settle is ourselves, and the way that we live. I think that this is one of the most powerful and true songs on her latest CD. The way she sings it is perfect. |

This song describes me perfectly. It is one thing to know that the world can be a not very nice place, but if you are optimistic about things than nothing will get you down. I am a sensitive person and I hate when people think that I am stupid or naive when I am neither, I just choose to look at the good in things, instead of focusing on the all-too-obvious bad. |

it's funny how a lot of people didn't even realize that the Edge sings a lot of this song. People were shocked when they would play it live and Edge would be singing. The two of them have similar pitches. |

The phrase "drowning man", in my opinion, would refer to a man who is struggling with his faith. He is a believer, but is finding it difficult to truly have faith when there is so much sadness in the world. There is also a song titled "Drowning Man" on the War album, but the lyrical content is somewhat different than this song. |

In the song "Peace on Earth" on the ATYCLB album, there is a reference to the phrase, "Drowning Man". It says "Jesus can you take the time/To throw a DROWNING MAN a line/peace on earth..." I think drowning man could mean a man who is struggling with his faith. He is a believer, but is finding it hard with all of the awful things that are happening in the world. just my opinion... |
