This song is most obviously about the human life that an embryo is. Many people try to pass it off as something un-human and cancerous, but these people only try to fool themselves so they don't feel anything when they decide to kill it for convenience sake. This view follows just about everything else Pink Floyd has written, all their music boils down to their obvious love for their fellow man and the decrying of human oppression. The musical and poetic genius of Pink Floyd is undeniable. |

I always kind of thought it was about how generally screwed-up things are, and that things are not the way they should be because people are lunatics, thus "and everthing under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon" kind of a reference to people thinking the moon is responsible for insanity.
