| this song is really kinda sad. this song is about the general, and his guilty feelings for what he has done in the past. he no longers wants to carry on. he's willing to die than to let any more of his soldiers die in battle. he's been in wars, many wars, he's decorated and striped. but he's finally realized that wars are not worth fighting. i guess the song is anti-war, not straight out, but more of when you see the war through the eyes of the general, who's been in many wars, you see the outcomes of wars. people die, young son's mothers grieve. the general has his duty to his country, he relieves his soldiers, he will face the enemy alone and thus die on the battlefield that gave him his fame, his metals, his stripes... it really is pretty sad. | |
