Someone's trapped in this world in which they are being someone they arent. They wont get out of that hell hole and experience reality and enjoy the many wonderful things life has instore for them. Someone wants to "crack their shell" so they will see that they can be excepted in life as well as everyone else. This someone knows that this trapped person has a true self hidden inside this "shell". They have seen that they have the potential to be a great person. They dont want to hurt this person by saying this to them, but they know its needed because they only want to help them out and let them be themselves for a change. |

The album "Morning View" hints that the songs will be mellow. When you look at the cover of the album, its peaceful. Therefore, the songs will be mellowed out. Which is good. I give Incubus credit for making the music they want to make. They went many albums with a more hard core edge. . .and now they wanted to mellow it out a bit and try new things. And that fucking rocks. If you dont want to listen to Morning View because of the mellow songs, stick with the older stuff. I listen to it all because each song is fantastic. Everything is put together just right. |

Nice sound to the song - makes me laugh. Gives me the urge to go get stoned and get lost somewhere with some friends. Always fun to not know what the hell you are doing. Reminds me of when I sat in my chair and listened to music as i watched the christmas lights flicker for hours - i stood up and had no idea where i had been or what i had been doing even though i had just been sitting in that one chair for hours. The title says it all - Make Yourself. Dont ever depend on trying finding who you are,. Know who you want to be and be that person. If you do depend on finding who you are you certainly wont get anywhere with it. Things will fuck up and you'll find yourself trying to find yourself again. If you make yourself who you want to be there's no way for you to be "papier-mache" . . you arent fake, you are who you are only who you have the desire to be. Sure you can be inspired by others. but take what you know about others and make who you want to be. dont base your life on others and what they think and do. just. . .be who you are. . make who you are. |

Incubus puts this music together for this very reason. So people can enjoy it and have different oppinions. Sure, they have their own meanings for some of there songs. . .and may even not have any for some of their other songs. Either way. . .they want people to enjoy it and jam to it just as i am doing now. It's fun to read what everyone has to say about this song. Because no matter what Incubus said the meaning of this song was - people are still going to have different oppinions and interpret the lyrics in a different way. lets sit back, relax, and enjoy the high we get off this incredible music. I agree with a lot of you. . .this song is about taking the chance to do what you want and life you're own life. If someone has been holding you back from doing the things you want to do in the past. . .you need to get out and experience things on you're own and not let people get in the way. Dont fear anything. . .dont wait until the last minute. You're best chance of full-filling your hopes and dreams is going with you're first chance. Dont wait for someone to tell you its ok. . .be yourself. "Make yourself" basically. "Take flight" and go with your instincts. Thats all I've got - enjoy incubus. |
