this song is just so amazing. alex has some of the strongest vocals i have ever heard. he is more talented than some of the artists 2 times his age. i too think this song is in reference to las vegas. vegas is like a "wishing well" because people go there and they stand at the tables and slot machines just wishing and raying that they'll hit it big. the song's title is a great metaphor. phantom planet rules. |

all i'll say is that i read brandon saying that it is about a relationship....ill try to find the article. its a realytionship gone bad and he wants to get out and is waiting for it to be over. "Now my only consolation is that this could not last forever " here he is sad b/c the relationship had to end. anyway. maybe the artice was bull. i just think its a little shitty to say "anyone who thinks this song is about a relationship is just some shallow ignorant fool. "(screwhead) you are the ignorant one for thinking you are so right. none of us know the meanin, cept brandon. maybe he wanted it to have more than one meaning. maybe he doest evn know what it means. none of us can say what it is or isnt. we can post our interpretations, but this song isnt "obviously" anything. its called poetry. it can mean so much all at once. think what you will, just dont preach and tell us all what it is or isnt. |

um, his name is brandon. speaking of brandon, i think he is a talnted man. hes a fucking awesome poet/lyricist. his words are so strong. and he has that voice, that god given voice, to back up those amazing lyrics. also, he uses his voice the same way that the other members use their instrumens. he can change the tone and stretch it and all that god stuff. he i swhat a lead singer should be. and let me tell you all that i am not A teenybopper who only loves brandon. being a poet, i can relate to him more. believe me,if i was a gtarist, id be up mike and dirks asses. same for chris-dj. and same for jose if i was a drummer. incubus is my fav band and i love that they have evolved.yes, EVOLVED. at least they arent doing the same tired shit Over and over like other bands. they have grown a lot. i respect that. they dont want our $. this music is about them. if we dont like it, we dont have to buy it. bands are making music 1) for them. 2) to share with others. like brandon said about MORNING VIEW, "for those of you who like it, great. if not, you can bit me. our c cover will look good evn in the used cd bin" i love incubus and ill always back them up. |

ok, well i dont write half as well as some of you, so ill just touch upon key pts. yes i agree this is one of the best rock and love songs ive ever heard. i think i agree its one of the top 10 songs ever written too. and yes, h. stern was right, i get those chills from the acoustic version too. and yes, my fav part is "breathe out, so i can beathe you in...hold you in." just rding that makes me fall in love with the song again. most of my friends listn to crap music. hardly any of them know of everlong...this saddens me. i never had anyone 1 share ths with. but i luv this site b/c it is so refreshing to know that you all feel the same way as i do. i love you guys! foos rule! |

i agree that the song kiks ass. i love the first verse intro thingie. its great. good lyrics. anyone notice how "rock music" is having a revival so to say? back to the good stuff. its so rad. the foos are back and they are another punch in the fight toward all the fucking stupid pop crap music out today. thanks foos for saving the day! |

At first, i had no idea what this song was about (I'm a bit on the slow side). I went through all the differenet interpretations and i agreed that the song is about drugs. I also thought that Smith was referig to himself and his reflection due to the scene with RichieTenenbaum in "The Royal Tenenbaums". Then, i finally read MuicGuru's response. He makes perfect sense. After reading his explanation, i don't think anyone can disagree. Good job. Thanks for clearing that up. |
