I Don't like the song very much. It is not heavier than their old albums (AJFA, RTL, MOP, and KEA); the guitars are just more distorted and the bass seems more cranked to me. It comes off as a cross between metallica, slipknot, and system of a down to me.. it's nu-metallica. I know that they are older, so they cannot pull off the pure ferocity that was their first albums, but they could have done WAY better than this. This album seems like re-reload to me.
That aside, I would say that the song is about james' alcohol addiction, or at leats directed at it, saying how pissed off he is that he fell into that shit. |

I think this song is about a guy who had to leave his girl to go somewhere, like college or university. In the chorus, he says "Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up: These are the best days of our lives.", which to me says that we take advantage of our youth, and don't realize it until we are older. He also talks about all the good times they shared together, ("Breaking into hotel swimming pools, and wreaking havoc on our world. Hanging out at truck stops just to pass the time. ") ("Lighting fireworks in parking lots"), (etc).
The leaving part comes from "2015 Riverside, it's time to say, 'goodbye.' Get on the bus, it's time to go." Which see as him leaving his home, which is 2015 Riverside.
This is such a powerful song, in my opinion, as I can relate to how I see it, because I will be leaving for college soon, and may have to leave my girlfriend behind, which i definitly do not want to do :( |
