everyone in here seems to come really close to what this song means to me, but i think it's a combination of a few things. i was in a situation for about a year, and it's kinda like this song, so that's what i get out of it. the first chorus, the initial part of the song, like everyone stated, is either to his parents/friends, "if you could only see the way she loves me" i think the first verse is to the girl herself. the bridge is also to her as well. to me, it's about how a guy is super in love with this girl, but she could care less. he sees it, but he doesn't wanna give up, because maybe there's hope. it's kind of a pros/cons song, on the one hand, she's a bitch, lies, manipulative, but on the other hand, how she says she loves me...*sigh* this happened to me for awhile, where the girl told me one thing, and acted like she loved me when no one was around, then when it was public, wanted nothing but friendship from me. that's what i feel this song is about.

frmrpreztaft, you hit the nail on the head...till you contradicted yourself. the first statement you had was true, that's what the ep is. i see no indication of it being a "get back" ep. see, the one line can't throw you off, because usually, after you've gone out with someone, they already notice you (For You To Notice). you already know what they're about (So Impossible), so i don't think this is a get back album. he likes a girl that is apparently out of his league, then he realizes she's the best thing he ever had. i think this song, and whole EP, is about the most important girl in his life to date, possibly one he could still be with right now. sorry if that upsets you girls, hah

this song is the coolest dashboard song i know of. i think girl in green described it best, but i think it's a little different. i think the girl kinda digs him at the beginning. she sees him in school and thinks he's cute and neat and all the fun stuff. but all she sees is skin deep. she's more of the preppy type, caring about fashion and cappucinos and gossip and the sort. and he digs her, again for purely physical appeal. but since chris is such a heart-on-his-sleeve guy, every girl he's attracted to, he sees past their skin, to what could possibly lie inside, and getting to know them better, and being a romantic, and a guy that doesn't really have a place or title, who's just there. and the title of the song "So Impossible" indicates this. that guys like this are always thinking in terms of that perfect girl, and they give everyone a shot at it, and it's always more meaningful to them then it should be. i am one of those guys so i know. great song anyway, peace

haha, i think it's hilarious how everyone is fuckin scared that this is gonna be the permanent sound of dashboard now, hahah. jesus christ, the rest of the new stuff doesn't sound like this, it actually sounds pretty cool. if you can't get it it's cuz you need winamp to download it. www.dcsoimpossible.com there's the link, and i think this song sucks too, but to all those who are scared to death of this song, and prefer the "old" dashboard, ask yourselves this question. when did YOU start listening to/purchase swiss army romance???...
