great song. i love the cover by braid, another of my favorite bands. they inserted a hilarious spoken part in the middle of their cover. anyway, as for the meaning...i don't really know, it's near impossible to accurately interpret pixies lyrics. the title is french and i believe it translates to "deceive the world." |

facades...literally it's the front of a building, but "putting up a facade" can mean putting up your guard or a front over your real personality. and i think that really fits with the song. i adore this song and the band...great guys that make great music.

I'm so glad the lyrics for this song is up...I've been listening to it nonstop ever since Tooth & Nail released it on their mp3.com page...it's an AMAZING song. 'Pride War' is awesome, also, but I really love this one. I love the line 'the sound now turns to silence...'; it's like hoping for something to stay, but despite your best intentions it just fades. It's good to see that FSF is still going strong after the loss of Chris Carrabba, maybe even stronger....Frankly, I think Jason Gleason better suits them as a lead singer, both on this track and when I saw them live in August. I can't wait 'til the new album is released on my birthday. |
