JEW is pop rock. i don't think all of their songs are about breakups, i'm saying alot of people think emo is about breakups, and that emo is about crying, and glasses, and sweaters, and it isn't. thats the point i was getting at. frankly, jew has been my fav. band for years. but that doesn't mean i think they're emo. i wasn't saying i don't understand their music because i do. i'm saying their not emo, and it pisses me off that everyone labels them that and doesn't open their eyes. |

Just to clarify. Emo is not "my girlfriend broke up with me watch me cry a river and write a whiney shit song about it before i wet my bed because i'm a nancy."
Emo is ..."the personal is the political."
Just wanted to share that with you.
Dashboard, Jew, Bright eyes, Juliana theory, thursday and any other band like them are not emo.

Ok, I have two things to say.
1. Jimmy Eat World is not emo. Emo is not pop punk whine over my girlfriend dumping me music. IT NEVER WILL BE, AND IT NEVER WAS. Why people would even say J.E.W. is emo is beyond me.
and 2. My opinion on this is that Bleed American, while it's still a good cd..it's doesn't even really compare to static prevails, or clarity for that matter. Keep in mind this is my opinion. I think this song is overplayed and it's annoying when people say how this is the best song in the world. Yeah, sure. I'm glad their successful, but why couldn't they have been successful with clarity? Shit, i think thats the best cd i've ever heard by them. Their music shouldn't have had to change for people to go all nuts over them. Now i'll repeat. MY OPINION. So don't get your panties in a twist. |

what i think is that the song is (agreed) to take place in some sort of break up. in the lines "can you still feel the butterflies, can you still hear the last goodnight" means, to me atleast, that he's asking her if she still feels that spark that brought them together in the first place. thats why most realtionships fail..because they can't remember why they got themselves into it, the sprak goes out. |
