I dont know this song is one of my very favorite counting crow's songs and yet i dont know much about the meaning. I guess to me its about growing up moving on and putting yourself out there not listening to what other people think. |

I think its really cool how they use simple choppy sentences and come off with all this deep meaning...i think its just about a person blossoming and letting people in whether in the instance of loss of virginity or just the instance of allowing your invulnerability to show. |

I think this song is about a guy who thinks he knows what he wants...to be single. But when he gets his freedom he realizes maybe he didn't want it, but its too late he has lost his love. His personal struggle to "please himself" is conveyed through his words. In the end he decides he's better off w/o her and he is gonna go ahead and put himself out in the world again |

Well to me it means something different than it does to everyone else so I might be completely off but hey whatever! To me its about a boyfriend and girlfriend that love eachother but are afraid to say it. The consequences that Anna is talking about is her medical problem. After he knows about her medical problem he knows he need to tell her how he really feels...that he loves her. I think she has this fatal disease and this is their struggle to forget about it and live and love for as long as she is alive and then it is about the boy's personal struggle to keep it together even though he is not ready for her to be gone. She is trying to tell him that they cant ignore her illness because it changes everything but he just wants time to stand still and in the end he knows it cant and it almost kills him...I think its a sad song it gets me every time...I LOVE CC! |
