Erg mooi. Voor mijn gevoel gaat het over iemand die in de put zit en het advies krijgt om te reizen, even weg te zijn van alles en fris terug te komen voor een nieuwe start OF gaat het over een geliefde die op reis gaat, die dat 'blijkbaar' nodig heeft, waarvoor hij het heel goed vindt dat ze gaat, maar waarvan hij vooral hoopt dat als ze alles gedaan heeft wat ze wilde doen, weer terugkomt.. (en dan zou het ook over zijn eigen gemis kunnen gaan in regels als 'Vecht met alles wat je hebt. Verlies het goed.') |

English is not my first language, so it's very possible that I'm not getting it correctrly. But my feeling is that this song is about a guy and a younger girl who've started dating (we're wise beyond our years; my little one; my prison kiss), despite knowing from the start that the age difference will make the relationship stop once. It's just that they like each other too much to stop the love now, but the 'angel of doubt' is still around, because of the age difference. They know it, they know it has to stop, but now they just want to not be bothered about it. shine a litte light, don't wrestle with the night, don't think about the future now. because the future doesn't look as bright as the present. |

I agree the song is open for more interpretation. My interpretation for the moment (as for most people i guess, probably bacause i can relate to it for the moment) is different than the ones before: I think both the boy and the girl like each other, but handle it differently. The boy's got his mind made up, he likes the girl, speaks it out to her, they have a good time, but still at the end she walks away. The boy can't think of the reason, but because they keep going out (but not letting it get to serious), he doesn't complain (cause 'still the world is turning', they're still dating). Though not complaining, he's really curious why the girl doesn't just go for it with him, he want't to hear what she's got to say. In the last verse we see the explanation: The girl likes the boy too, but is scared to let the boy into her life to fast (hence: 'if i'm so happy i've got everything to lose). That's why she can't stand to stay. Perhaps this was the situation of the frontman/frontgirl in the beginning of their relationship? To me this song has an open end, they're in a situation where they both like each other, but where it's still unclear if it's going to work out because of the different ways they handle liking each other. |

You're probably all right about the meaning of this song, cause there are just many ways to interprete it. To me though, it's about a guy who kissed a lot of girls, but somehow none of them ever turned out to be his girlfriend. For a long time he didn't really care, he knew how to get them and just moved on te the next one. It made him 'feel complete', hence the first part of the song. But now, as the second chorus says, when he's there ready to kiss another girl, he just doesn;t see the point anymore if it's just gonna be a one-time-thing. (Is this the place that i've been dreaming of?) That makes sence to the 'oh simple thing, where have you gone? I'm getting old and i need something to rely on' part. He's ready for a girlfriend, but doesn't know how to get one (so tell me when you're gonna let me in, i'm getting tired and in need somewhere to begin). The 'you' person in theis song is love. He's asking love to 'talk about somewhere only we know', when will his time be? anyway, that's just how i listen to the song.. i'm pretty curious to know how it was meant |
