i cant believe there arent a lot of comments for this song! its such a perfect song. its talking about his doubts of getting into another relationship because he was hurt before, pretty badly. she kind of saved him and made everything better, so he was like, i don't care if i get hurt again, let's try this anyway.

yeah, basically he just wants to have sex with her, he's trying to make himself seem kind of romantic, and saying he wont be a burden to her, and in a way, he won't, because he just wants the sex, not the relationship. but to some girls, that is just the burden. thats probably why hes not her type of man. |

this song is pretty easy to understand, but i like the meaning a lot. she meets this guy and right off the bat, without even knowing him that well, she has feelings him for while she has a bf and he has a gf. they start off cheating on their significant others, but then they break up, hence the..."Isnt this the best part of breaking up, finding someone else you cant get enough of?" shes saying she knows its going to turn into something big, something has to come of it, cause she thinks shes already falling in love. |

i never knew what this song meant until recently. like a lot of you said up there, its about a girl whos guarded and wont let anyone see that part in her deep down, yet, as the last verse says, thats the part he needs to see the most...the part that would allow her to love him completely.
this is by far the best springsteen song, and probably in my top 10 of all songs. |

at first, when i listened to this song, i thought it was about a relationship that was driving him nuts that he NEEDED to get out of. now reading over the lyrics, however, im seeing a different perspective. im thinking its about how brandon views the whole boyband pop singer thing...theyre so fake and annoying to him, he can wait till theyre through their 15 seconds of fame. "Even though you're singing and thinking how well you've got it made" doesnt that sound like a little pop singer? only thing i dont get is "now my only consolation is that this could not last forever"...whats that supposed to mean? it sounds like hes sorry to know they'll be ending soon? |

well this song used to make absolutely NO sense to me at all...all i used to sing along to was "you wrap your legs around me" so i knew it was something sexual. then reading the lyrics it seemed like they were overcoming something "love will lead us..." but reading the sex on the beach comments it all makes sense! i like what spider said tho, about how it is deeper than just that. good job guys. |

great song! at first, it seems like hes currently in the relationship where hes like "i dont have the stomach to stomach calling you today" because why would he call someone hes not in a relationship with? but then he says "leave u beneath the waves of time" which makes u think they already broke up. they probably did break up because he was not open with her and didnt show her who he really was cause he doesnt know who he is. he feels bad about it and isnt happy with who he is anymore which explains all the destructive tactics in this song. i also think prince_of_theives has a very good explanation. |

this is definitely a very beautiful song...it does seem in the beginning of the song that hes trying to get his love into bed. hes telling her the story of their relationship with the part, "So much we have dreamed

this is a really sweet song, he seems like hes really getting into it when he sings...that one line that everyone keeps pointing out "theres something about the way your hair falls in your face" is verrrry sweet, its almost like the line from echo by incubus...but yes it is a great song, which is very obviously about sex. but not the dirty kind of sex rap songs are about, the sweet making love kind of sex that is not cheap. |

this is my favorite saves the day song, just because the background music and the message are so awesome when put together.
my take on this is he loves her so much he is willing to do ANYTHING for her: he clearly states it in the line "and i'll do everything i can to keep you by my side." i agree with emoemu(cute name by the way), about how the beginning hes telling the situation he is in, about how she doesnt want him, but hed love to be with her. its about a love so strong that he can only dream of being with her. he pretty much worships her. the end, hes telling about how it would be, theyd be together in this happy little kingdom place. how cute! i wouldnt want a guy to worship me like this, but it IS put in such a sweet way, i dont think i would mind! im not sure about the whole metaphorical meaning thing, but i do want to know, what is up with the whole nightingale things anyway? sure theyre noctural...so what does it have to do it with the song?
oh and i think at the end when hes saying about servants being granted their release is that he finally wont be a servant to her, hed be with her. |

its pretty apparent what this song means...he met this girl, and she completely knocked him off his feet. he completely froze and lost his chance with her. then he meets up with her again later in life. its sweet, and i love the beat of the song. and it is reeeally easy to relate to. |

this is the sweetest love song ever...and to think its written by an alt rock group is amazing...its by far my favorite on any of their albums. if someone sang this to me, id just melt right there, but thats beside the point...
the first part is so sweet, hes just stating his love for her, and how hed fight through any obstacle for her. hence, "you're so worth the fight." he was probably in a depressed state of time, and seeing her made him revived. "theres something about the look in your eyes, something i noticed when the light was just right, it reminded me twice that i was alive."
the infinitely interesting part and the your biggest fear and my biggest fear parts are confusing, but i think what many of you put on here about being afraid to fall in love is true. to tie the whole song together, he was probably hurt badly in the past, never wanted to love again, met her, and now he loves her but is afraid to. in conclusion: most realistic, perfect love song ever. |
