The song is not about an ex. The is a little more complex than that. It's actually a stroy. It's about a man who wants love and only love out of relationships. at first, sex isn't all tah important, its the happiness derived from the relationship that counts... ...the girl had a slightly different plan. She doesn't care anymore, she used him, and now shes moving on. The memories (photos) mean nothing to her, she'll throw them away. He's saying that its more than just the memories, its the feelings, and he can't get over so easily. He comes to a decision, its fine for her to leave, but don't act like it never meant anything. Does she really believe what she's saying? A new man, "going with the flow". Hardened by a past failed relationship, he doesn't care anymore. He's given up. Meaningless Sex now fills void. It's easily to go along liek everyone else and do whatever girls want you to. Almost like soldiers, doing what they are supposed. "Falling in and out of love", never trying to make anything stick. Throwing away something that could have been nice. He wants that "something good to die for. Here are some of the names it has been refered to as Sad-The original title Sappy Verse-Chorus-Verse VCV In His Hands It was originally recorded in the In Utero Sessions and never made it on the album (incase you guys dont know A F*CKING THING ABOUT THE REAL MUSIC INDUSTY WORKS), Bands usually record alot more songs than what gets placed on the album, the compant picks the best ones. BUT, in conclusion, Kurt has played this song live, and there he usually refered to it as "Verse-Chorus-Verse". So there u tards have it. The song goes a little deeper than just what these guys have said. It is about how if God were real, he'd be a little kid watching all you people who put yourselves in the glass jars (pointless restraints) of religion. And how people trick themselves into beleiving they are happy and their hardships are acts of god to make them better people or test their faith in him. But look a the chorus "You're in a laundry room You're in a laundry room " In a later verison of this song, the line "Conclusion came to you" is added to those two lines. Bascially what its saying is, if God ever was really there, he certainly doesn't care about you anymore. You've been left aside to die in the laundry room, assuming you haven't been there all along. This has been my biggest concern with religion ever since i was 8 and i this song uses the perfect metaphor. |

the song is about the a lonely guy that is trying to fill the loneliness with meaningless sex. The scar tissue is a metaphor for a broken heart. someone or somehting in his past has scared him. He wishes the girl had seen his scar tissue becuase he wanted more than just sex. The first stanza describes his personality and their "love" together. The Fallin all over myself stanza just talks about the sex. Now im not sure, but i think the thrid stanza "blood loss in a bathrom stall", is talking about loss of innnocence. Losing your virginity has been sononymous with a loss of innocence forever. I think the stanza is refering to a girl losing her virginity and he has stolelen her innocence either metaphorically or litterally. "wave good-bye to ma and pa cause'" supports my theory because she is waving good-bye to her parents, she has grown up. The relevance i believe this has to the song is he has done this wrong deed in order to "quench" his lonliness and feels bad for it. Now the forth stanza, is kind of confusing. When people get seperate, they tend to get hurt. He could have started a fight somewhere and then walked outside to think. It's autumn out there and thats when (i believe) he sits down and with the birds he shares a lonely view, which is what the rest of the song is talking about. The moon might symbolize his dreams and he'll make it thee even if he has to crawl(by any means nessisary). |

The song is about a heroin high and the effects of heroin and drug use on life. If you've ever been on any opiate, you'd know the feeling this song describes. I have proof too... "i got so high, i scratched till i bled"-THis isn't uncommon to heroin or morphene addicts. Scratching feels good. "Love myself, better than you."-Heroin produces an incredible feeling of euphoria. "My mother dies everynight"-THis is jsut refers to his mom being upset about it. "What the hell am I trying to say. It is now time to make it unclear.To write off lines that don't make sense"- I believe that a few of the lines like this, don't directly follow the song by do express feelings he had relating tot he drug use. Also i htink he did it to show how displaced you become on heroin. your life becomes chaos, sorta of like the the song does as it progresses. that's what i feel the song means... |

Here's what this song means to me. Its about a few different things. But mostly about kurt's life. I'm not like them But I can pretend -I think that means what it says. He not average. but sometimes wishes he could be. I know you guys think he doesnt try to fit in and all, and thats true, but that doesnt mean we dont sometimes wish we fit in just so we didn't have so much suffering. The sun is gone But I have a light -I think by this he means his thrill for life is gone. but he has an idea to keep himself amused, or alive. The day is done But I'm having fun -I think this means, again, what is says. Even though he may not be the happiest personin the world, he is still capable of having fun. I think I'm dumb or maybe just happy -I don't thinkt he happy part should be taken too literally. Unless he's refering to the age old saying, "ignorance is bliss" and he's also refering to the first line in his song where he says he can pretend. Maybe he's saying he's delusional. My heart is broke But I have some glue -I think he means he's depressed, but he has some glue. I do think this is a reference to drugs. regaurdless of what other people say. help me inhale And mend it with you -Again, he's going to get high. And the feeling makes him feel better about his life-mending his broken heart. No matter what others have already said. This could be any drug, and i don't think the exact drug he used has much inportance the rest of the song. It only means he uses drugs as an escape or to help him feel better. We'll float around And hang out on clouds -This just means he's high with his friens. The clouds refers to the sublime feeling you get from being high. Then we'll come down And have a hangover -Exactly what it says.Now im not quite sure what this next part means, but i'm pretty sure it tells a story of why he's like this or elaborates on what he's going through in everyday life. Skin the sun -He has alot of troubles in his life and seeks some sort of consolation, maybe in drugs. Fall asleep -Fall into a depression, a state of half being, where he feels terrible. Wish away -Wishes his life was better The soul is cheap -This part confuses me but im pretty sure is has some meaning of low self esteem, or low self worth. Lesson learned -realizes drugs aren't the answer. But this revalation doesn't help him any. Wish me luck -He want's you to feel sorry for what he's been through. And hope he does better in the future Soothe the burn -Hopes, through the love of other people, he can feel better. The wishing him luck will "soothe the burn" Wake me up -Hopefully other people can help him feel better and eventually get over his depression. That's pretty much what i think the song means. comment on it all you want. I don't care. lol |
