| This song is about 9/11 and the war in Iraq...the idea I get from it is that "September" is basically the conflict in Iraq and the war against terrorism...hense he is saying "wake me up when (september) this is all over" The relation I get between September and the war is the fact that everyone tries justifying the war against terrorism to 9/11 and what they did to us blah blah and he's basically throwing the punch its been almost 4 years and were still taking "revenge" against them wake me up when we get our heads out of September and let it all go because causing a war against them won't bring back the innocent that we lost on that day. The "7 years and 20 years" reference could possibly be him talking about the time between war...and peace...like for instance...in 1993 we had the conflict in Mogadishu and a little more than 7 years later we begin to have the conflict with Iraq etc. it's almost like "7 years has gone so fast, the innocence(peace) can never last" I don't know just my two cents...anyone? | |

| Actually I don't exactly knnow how this song fits into the story but I do know about the even numbered nephew. Claudio stated himself that Jesse (Coheed's borther) AKA The Prize Fighter Inferno has 4 nephews and nieces obviously you guys prolly knew that. Coheed and Cambrias children are who I'm talking about. Well anyways Claudio in the story is the only surviving child and is also the second born making him the even numbered nephew to Jesse. | OMFG NickmanHWM that is the friggin 5th time I have read your ramblings about Alkaline Trio selling out...and by now no one fucking cares. First off do you even know what the meaning of selling out is?! No it's not appearing on MTV to make more money that's called making a living. Selling out is when you change your music style and how you sound to appeal to more fans, that's selling out, and last time I checked Alkaline Trio still rocks hardcore on the new CD Good Mourning and the old fans still love them as much as any new fans. Think about this...Blink 182, they sold out back when the CD Enema of the State was released. You can hear a blatant difference between the sound of it and Dude Ranch which was in my opinion one of their best CD's. But wait...didn't Blink 182 start going mainstream when Dude Ranch came out, yeah that's right it's because the needed money. They didn't want to stay an underground band and have no one know about them all their life. They sold out when Enema of the State appeared because the sound of the music changed and it appealed to more fans. In my opinion Good Mourning by Alk3 is a sweet album and competes to any of their other albums. So stop acting like your 'punk' and calling every band that appears on MTV a sellout. I really don't think Alkaline Trio has multiple jobs other then the band so obviously they need to make money off of it and as much money as they can....-_- just my two cents since no one else seems to want to defend Alk3 to his ramblings...I'm done... | |

| Hmm...this song in my opinion is a lot different then what you all have been saying. I can relate to this which is how I figured it out...It's about a girl he broke up with that screwed him over really badly but she keeps coming back to him and/or leading him on while she has another bf and he says 'I never ran away for the sake of scars' meaning he never ran away from her know that in the end he will still be hurt and nothing will change. He says 'Tried not to move but she was armed and shots were fired, now a hole in the head of this wounded liar.' Meaning he tried not to do anything with her that would cause pain but she was armed with seduction and she just gave him more wounds and he now has a hole in his head because he is just a liar meaning he could have lied about wanting her back or whatever when he really doesn't because she is/was so evil to him. And top off the song he finally says 'I don't know, no I don't know. I don't know who you're boyfriend is.' Which then he either finds out or realizes he can't be with her if she already has someone and he says I don't know who you're boyfriend is... | |

As he then talks about taking his own life with whine and smoking the brains from his head...which would be like taking his life or driving straight off the edge...just my opinion since it sounds like a play on words now that I look at it... |

Matt Skiba quoted on the official website in an interview "I don’t actually believe that there is a Satan or a hell or all that kind of stuff, but the imagery more than anything is exciting and challenging. But if it’s gonna piss somebody off for me to say I’m a Satanist, I’d be happy about that." Obviously Matt and the gang gets a kick out of the imagery of satanism and witchcraft. To go as far as saying they are satanists themselves is a little to much but in a Christianity sense you could definately pin point who's side their on (God/Satan so to speak). When it comes to the song itself I seem to think it's not as much of a death but more of a break up. I don't know his personal love life and what not but the impression I get from the meaning is much more hidden then it seems. It seems like the whole song is telling about his life and aspects in it including a probably pretty important relationship to him gone bad. Here's what I got... I put it all on black, no color you're all dressed in (Well when it comes to good and evil it deals with black and white and he seems to want to 'put it all on black' Also black is not a color it's the lack of color so to speak, a play on words when he says 'no color your all dressed in') And a stab in the back left you bleeding on the floor And I'm mourning the death, the recent passing of your insides I smile in regret every time I think of how I spoke to you (The stabbing the back might be a reference to something he did to her after their break up ('passing of your insides') to hurt her. Also saying he regrets ever speaking to her like he did maybe in the sense of saying something wrong or of spilling his heart to her etc.) I put it all in back of my mind where I hold you I'm just trying to keep track, how far back it really goes (He has put her in the back of his mind and it's hard because he doesn't want to put her to far back to forget her. Obviously meaning she meant alot to him.) And I'm living in lack of the blood sent from the heavens I'm just trying to relax as the killer's waiting right outside my door (He's living in lack of the blood (or 'blessings') sent from the heavens. He trying to relax because the killer (or 'Satan') is waiting outside his door (or 'by his side') What's black and white? What's read all over? This tired book This organ donor (This line has to be referring to the Satanic Bible which (according to a website source) explains Satanism in 'black and white' and he referres the book to be read all over (pun off red, as in evil so to speak) And the organ donor I'm not quite sure about but I'de like your thoughts and opinions on it.) Sweet blasphemy, my giving tree It hasn't rained in years I bring to you this sacrificial offering of virgin ears Leave it to me, I remain free from all the comforts of home And where that is, I'm pleased as piss to say, "I'll never really know" (Well this chorus is full of the evil imagery such as him saying 'Sweet Blasphemy my giving tree' Blasphemy reffering to the act of claiming he rights or attributes of God, since one other person commented somewhere else he believes in ones self being their own God. Also he says he brings a sacrificial offering of virgin ears almost like a sacrifice of the listener in my opinion o_o And he speaks of remaining free of the comforts of home. (heaven?) I put 'em all in black, the four walls of my bedroom And I trimmed them in red, peeled your picture off the wall And I'm living in lack of the blood sent from your heartbeat that arrived in your neck every time I salivated over you (Once again more about the girl basically saying he tore her picture off his black and red trimmed walls and he's in lack of the warm blood in her neck when he salivated or 'kissed or whatever' her neck etc.) What's upside down? What's coated in silver? This crucifix is my four leaf clover (An upside down cross or crucifix is the symbol of satanism and obviously it's his lucky charm) One of these days it's gonna catch up to you Throwing looks like those around One of these nights I promise to you I'll soon be sleeping sound, as soon as I leave town (This is probably the most obvious reason to think this is about a girl breaking up and not a death. He says 'One of these days It's going to catch up to you throwing looks like those around." Obviously meaning one of these days it's all going to catch up to her if she throws looks and flirts around all the time. And 'One of these nights I promise to you I'll soon be sleeping sound as soon as I leave town" this could be reffering to him dying and sleeping for good or him leaving his awful small town (Which is where I think he grew up) and finally sleeping without having to think about this girl. This is just my complete self opinion about this all just my two cents hopefully it shines some light on some of the parts for you. Some of it is far stretched but it seems to make sense please extend on it or add to it... |
