Beastie Boys – Hey Ladies Lyrics | 20 years ago |
yeah, green monkey's probably got it right. They have quite a few songs with similar messages. |
Beastie Boys – (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
This song was actually making fun of all the songs that are like "Leave me alone, I can do what I want!" but everyone loved the song so much and thought it was serious so the Beastie Boys had to pretend it was serious. Check the Sounds of Science Anthology. |
Beastie Boys – Paul Revere Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Buddhists? That's pretty baddass. I love this song, a great little story. |
The White Stripes – Hotel Yorba Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I was always a little sad that a marriage liscense was found. I really liked the mystery of it, always kept you wondering. Oh well, anyway, this is an extremely catchy and great song, down-home-ish and just generally wonderful |
Cake – Shadow Stabbing Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Hmm, I am curious about this murder theory. But not curious enought to email Munkman. |
Cake – Short Skirt/Long Jacket Lyrics | 21 years ago |
a0g0e, that's the point of this site, to look into the songs. But anyway, I agree with MorningStar. It seems like the guy wants a near impossible combination of factors. |
Placebo – Nancy Boy Lyrics | 21 years ago |
As my friend says, "Brian Molko is the sexiest ugly man alive." I lurve this song with some sort of passion. It just makes so much sense and none at all. |
Placebo – Scared Of Girls Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I love the line about the girls younger sister for some reason. I like darkeyes interpretation, it is neat |
Poe – Angry Johnny Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I agree with dealupa. Whenever I hear this song, I imagine a girl sort of stalking down her abuser and hurting him. |
Siouxsie and the Banshees – Peek-A-Boo Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I think it's about different kinds of sex. In the first verse, she's talking about being submissive, or cracking a whip(bondage) |
Gorillaz – Man Research (Clapper) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This was always my least favorite song. I never could listen to the whole thing. |
Gorillaz – Re-Hash Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Dr X always has the good, non-drug-related interpretation. |
Deltron 3030 – Things You Can Do Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I love how the first audio samples combine with the bass drum line. It sounds so awesome. |
System of a Down – Forest Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I heard a slightly similar interpretation to that of the God speaking with Man version that really made sense to me. The theory was that the song was God speaking to Adam , which was his only actual child (aside from Eve), as they are the only one's he actually created, the rest of the population was created from them. anyway, i'll try to do a little line by line interpretting here.... Walk with me my little child(Adam), To the forest (Garden of Eden)of denial, Speak with me my only mind,(God saying that he is Adam's only creator and speak only with him and not Satan) Walk with me until the time,(perhaps forshadows the eventual betrayal) And make the forest turn to wine, (God telling his child to enjoy the Garden of Eden) You take the legend for a fall,(This part, I came up with myself, on account of I'm so cool: This is reffering to the bible itself, and the "legend" of Adam and Eve betraying God. God is asking him to prove their[our] legend wrong, by staying true to him) You saw the product, (Also my own theory: God showed or told him of the "future"[present now] and showed them the effect their actions had in creating a sinful world.) Why can't you see that you are my child, (God in despair, knowing already that Adam has betrayed him, imploring why he did not listen) Why don't you know that you are my mind, Tell everyone in the world, that I'm you, (reinforces that God is part of Adam and it hurts him) Take this promise to the end of you. (telling Adam that maybe he can stilll change the future, or at least trying to hold out against Satan for as long as possible) Take this promise for a ride, You saw the forest, now come inside, (letting Adam into the Garden of Eden, so that he can fufil his destiny) You took the legend for its fall, (a look at society if Adam had kept his promise) You saw the product of it all, No televisions in the air, (no television in a world without sin) No circumcisions on the chair, You made the weapons for us all,(back to actual reality, where the people are telling Adam that he is the cause) Just look at us now.... Now I'm not a religious person, but this interpretation really made some sense to me. What do you guys think, hmmmm? |
System of a Down – Shimmy Lyrics | 21 years ago |
hehe, I love this song. It's the only one that really makes me want to dance. I think that it's speaking of the American dream which is basically: Get a degree(education),have sex(fornication),get married and have your own house(I don't have to reference that one, do I) and have a lot of fun(the shimmyin' part) this was one of my favorite SoaD songs for a bit, til I heard Spiders. Then I liked Mr. Jack, and then Suite-Pee, then Snowblind, and now Storaged is my favorite. |
System of a Down – Drugs Lyrics | 21 years ago |
darkcircle4life, I dissagree with you a lot. If someone doesn't like drugs, that don't mean they have to scrap all their good music. I strongly disagree with drug use, yet System of a Down is my favorite band. Anyway, I think this song's just a joke or a mic check deal. |
Gorillaz – 5/4 Lyrics | 22 years ago |
THANK you Dr. X. I was waiting for SOMEone to say that it wasn't about drugs. I agree with your ideas |
