For Nick Drake fans---John Fahey album called America. Don't know why it connects to me in the same way as Nick but man it gets me in that "sad but happy" way also. |

No comments yet huh? Well this was apparently sampled from an interview of Rickie Lee Jones by Levar Burton for The Reading Rainbow kids show. She was supposedly obviously under the influence of some sort of hallucinogen(maybe shrooms or LSD) and continued to ramble about the beautiful colors of the skies as she remembered them from her childhood. On a side-note I think there Pat Metheny and Ennio Morricone are also sampled in the song. Plus it gets bonus points for being in a VW commercial. The Orb's album OFOrb is one of the best albums EVER. |

In it? I was thinking more along the lines of because of the fact that he has a kick-ass car he can now get those chicks who are impressed by such things. You know the types that hang out at the mall and will fuck a guy because he has a new Mustang or Camaro. |

Who is Dio???!!! You're kidding right? Ronnie James Dio. Took Ozzy's place as lead singer for Black Sabbath. About 4'2". Always sings about Merlins, goblets, spells/potions, evil wizards and other "metal" things. He's been one of the coolest running jokes with people who are in the "cool-circle". Listen and learn my young whippersnapper. Typically a group of us cool folk would take turns making up Dio-type lyrics such as "His hunger bleeds as the Wizard begs. The toadstools grow right beneath his legs. He is the Sorcerer of Blood...Yeah the Sorcerer of Blood...Look out!" That was completely improvised as I typed by the way which is an admission of playing way too many hours of "The Dio Game". Have fun with it. |

Sheila Chandra also covered it I believe. I think(even though I like Tim a lot) that this is the definitive version. Kinda like Jimi Hendix's cover(yes cover) of Hey Joe. My question is why aren't there more comments on such an amazing song/performance? Oh because everyone's discussing Avril Lavigne's-Sk8er Boi. |

Don't you guys know that a little game drug-users play is letting others think that they don't use? Haven't you heard of being subversive? Do you think those middle age lawyer types would shell out all that money for some druggie band's concert? Hell no...they gotta keep that clean image so they can keep raking in the bucks. Gimme a break. Anyway the best drug songs/films/books are always thinly disguised and open for interpretation. They have to be able to work on many different levels. Is Alice in Wonderland a drug movie? Walt Disney was probably the most subversive guy around. I'll try and find this link to show all the psychedelic references in Alice... |

To all of you teenyboppers who think this "shoppin' for clothes at Gadzookz" chick is punk-rock, just keep on thinking that. I can't tell you how hard I laughed when I tried to listen/watch this so-called song. I read a comment to the effect of "Now we finally have a girl punk-rocker"???!!! Are you insane? Sleater-Kinney would kill Avril with one riff. Uhhh...Bikini Kill, The Avengers, The Breeders, Chicks on Speed & Rainer Maria just to name a few real chick bands. Keep buying this shit and keep getting fooled ya little mall gangstas. |

Noone ever mentions Nick's guitar playing/style. If anyone plays guitar(I have for many MANY years) I dare you to try and learn a few songs. You'll probably spend days just trying to figure out the weird tunings he used. Almost always using a capo to boot. Tunings like EBBEBE with a capo on the sixth fret???!!! On top of that his strings would often be in-between notes(like between an F# and a G) and vary from song to song. Am I losing you? |

Does anyone even read the posts???!!! People keep asking questions that have already been asked AND answered. As far as the whole "Paul is dead" thing goes you guys should check out this book titled Paul Was The Walrus. Several hundred pages about the supposed hoax. If I'm not mistaken Leanord Bernstein claimed that the ending of A Day In The Life was his favorite piece of music ever. I'd like to turn you on...Does that really need an explanation? LSD anyone? |
