so much debate about johnn vs nin. to be honest when comparing the original nin version vs johnn'ys i think johnny's is infinitely better, but has anyone heard the acoustic version by trent who sung it for the katrina music and relief aid show? it was just trent and the piano..now that is the BEST version of hurt ever, so much emotion especially at the chorus...F***ing amazing stuff, i highly recommend ppl check the acoustic version out!! as for what the song means, it could be drugs, suicide, loss of loved ones, ending of one's fame/career, dealing with pain from whatever situation, that's why it's such a powerful song, the lyrics are written such that you could tweak with the meaning and make it relevant to you... nearly a good a song as the scientist...which is my fav song! |

| hi guys, looks like im not the only person into heartwrenching melancholy songs...if you guys like this song you should like a song called 'run' by 'snow patrol'...its another depressing song....gosh i love how much emotion these songs evoke! | |
| Snow Patrol – Run Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| yes i totally agree this song is about a break up but neither party wants to end it...its as if the other party needs to go away and cant do anything about it and he is telling her to put her chin up hence 'light up light up as if you have a choice' perhaps her family is moving far away...this is such a beautiful song...i love coldplay and im beginning to love snow patrol | |

| hi guys, i think this song is about an asian girl (hence yellow) and when he says skin and bones he is talking about her being anorexic..as asians are usually skinny anyway....and when he says 'for you i bleed myself dry' he wants to feed her with his blood and 'nourish' her since blood is nourishment for the body...what do you guys think? | |
| Alanis Morissette – Ironic Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| cbennett is right, although i love this song, it isnt ironic at all, it's more coincidental, irony is hard to explain but the example i can think of is the saying 'be sincere whether you mean it or not' - it's ironic because being sincere means you mean. how bout another example, like you set out to avoid something but those actions actually lead you to the thing you are trying to avoid | |
| Des'ree – I'm Kissing You Lyrics | 23 years ago |

| this song touches on sooooo many the levels, the lyrics, the meaning, the emotion, the music, the tension, the sadness, i could go on and on forever. It's absolutely amazing - so much feeling. I love the solo piano part the best - makes me wish i was somehow musically talented. but alas... | |
| Alanis Morissette – Hands Clean Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| i love this song, but i dont think it is about rape, it IS about her being with an olderman and the way society looks down upon that hence 'supposed crime' - it's not a crime to be with somoene older (well depends on the ages) but it is a 'supposed' one because we are conditioned to see it that way. But there alanis portrays the older guy as somewhat sleazy and scared 'dont go telling on me to the members of your family'. But the relationship didnt last long 'you've washed your hands clean of this'. This song has personal relevance to me because i am in a relationship with a much older man and i dont care what other ppl think because love knows no boundaries | |
| Train – Drops of Jupiter Lyrics | 23 years ago |

i think this song is about 'Now that she's back in the atmosphere With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey She acts like summer and walks like rain Reminds me that there's time to change, hey, hey Since the return from her stay on the moon She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey Tell me did you sail across the sun Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded And that heaven is overrated Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star One without a permanent scar And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there Now that she's back from that soul vacation Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey She checks out Mozart while she does tae-bo Reminds me that there's room to grow, hey, hey Now that she's back in the atmosphere I'm afraid that she might think of me as plain ol' Jane Told a story about a man who is too afraid to fly so he never did land Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day And head back to the Milky Way And tell me, did Venus blow your mind Was it everything you wanted to find And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know you're wrong Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone conversation The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day And head back toward the Milky Way Repeat 1st Chorus |

i think this song is about rob being in an abusive relationship and he kinda wants to leave but the girl doesnt see why? (And I don't know why you couldn't just stay with me You couldn't stand to be near me When my face don't seem to want to shine Cuz it's a little bit dirty well) and she is demanding him to like pay her attention and treat her nice because she herself has been in an abusive relationship (Don't just stand there, say nice things to me I've been cheated I've been wronged, and you You don't know me, I can't change I won't do anything at all) but everyone else's interpretation all seem very plausible |
