there was a canadian radio station interview back when yield was released and eddie said something to the effect of: "this isnt just about a rockstar escaping (or some such) - but in general just a person escaping the daily grind and the 'race'. taking a few days off to recuperate. like 4 days, but only 4 days, 4 weeks is unacceptable" yeah i know my memory sucks....but that was the gist of it...anyone else hear that interview? wonder where i put that tape ;) |

this song takes me back to a particular summer night when i was 17 - and i had a girlfriend who lived quiet a drive away and i only saw her once every saturday - it was about 10:30 at night and it was time for her to go home (god i hated her leaving!) we just slow danced in my backyard to this song on repeat for 20 minutes, then sat under a blanket in the rain...... sometimes i miss those days...sigh ;) thank you bush for taking me back |

i agree with the growth part - but i think it also has signs of "regression" on the guys part... when these people met, she was "sour" he was "happy" (at least on the surface: I was a superman but looks are decieving) during the course of the relationship he built her up as a person while she seems to wear him down. it was probably this regression on his part that led to their splitting.... so.. when they went their separate ways - she was a better person while he was a wreck - they both came full circle...kinda like real relationships during those teenage years |
