The Tears For Fears version makes me laugh because it's so 80's... and then I can never fully get over it when I'm listening to Shout 2000. "Shooouut... shoooUuUUt lllllleddit all ooooouuut" - It always sounds kinda gay when Tears sing it... dunno why I think that... but hey there it is. A pity - because other than that I can tell that it's a great heavy song. |

Because it's spelt "Hypocrite". If you're going to correct people's big words and do it wrongly... well actually - just don't do that. How funny is it that in correcting his incorrectly spelt "hipercrit" with YOUR (slightly less, but still) incorrectly spelt "hipocrite"... you were, in fact, BEING a hypocrite? I love it!! Aaaaaaaaaanyway, onto the song! I love Droppin' Plates. It's brilliance. Why's it plates? Who knows... but still - it SOUNDS good, it's slow and heavy... and one of my favourite tracks on the album. |

| Ummm...... Yeah... Americans these days, heheh. You're debating the "true meaning" of a song? At this point - I'm going to show you something that you've seemingly overlooked... What it says RIGHT ABOVE THE BOX YOU'RE TYPING IN: "What does this song mean to you?"... (Good) songs don't HAVE true meanings. To have one true meaning would make a song one-dimentional... and, well, basically - pop. To sum up - The meaning of a song is whatever you personally get from it. And the point of this site would (or at least - should) be for sharing that meaning with others. NO ONE can tell someone that what they've got from listening to a song is "wrong", just because it's not the same as what they got from it... or because it's what the band "officially" says it's about. Preach it loud, heheh. Anyway - it is, technically, about a guy cracking and beating his mother (though you would do well to note "and when I dream"). You can attach metaphor to it (i.e. society) or not. Or do both. It's personal. | |

| Screw the lyrics for meaning. Forget the words and listen to the music. The contrast of the mellowed, almost resigned beginnings to the anger and pain as it draws to a close... Throw in the speed and madness of the solo, and the feelings are pretty much conveyed. The lyrics just set the scene... Anyway - an amazing song that gets better every time you hear it, and one of the best solos you'll hear in a Metallica song. Brilliant stuff. | |
