The best love song ever written - and the word 'love' isn't mentioned once - Oh and I'm getting married in six weeks time and I we are having the S/M version for when we walk leave after signing the register - How cool is that! |

This is my favorite Nada Surf song it kinda reminds me of... ...well me There were some times when I was a bit younger that I found it too easy to get down about things/myself - words to live by = LIFE'S TOO SHORT!
(Oh and I submitted some corrections - not to be aheeky monkey or anything it's just that they are on the inlay cover of proximity effect) |

Through reading Charles Cross's Kurt biography it's been found from a number of reliable sources (family and friends of the time) that the story of running away and sleeping uner the bridge in aberdeen is untrue - the people that say that it isn't true (His aunt and two friends I think) explain it in a really good way - they say that "Kurt never let the facts get in the way of a good story" I like to think of him that way - he wrote these amazing songs and although we dont have to read them as though they are all autobiographical, they still hold so much poetic imagery and beauty! Bye4now!

Where did this children with cancer theory come from? The song is about feeling inadaquate in life, career and mainly focused on relationships - He's basicly saying (to whoever the intended is) 'I need you to know that I'd do anything for you - "eat your cancer" = die for or with you.
The whole "new complaint" bit is Kurt being self critical, he sees himself as somewhat a child that will fuss and moan and complain about things until he gets his own way - This is just one of the many examples that illustrates his depression and, at some points of his life, self loathing. And to finish - "throw down your umbilical noose, so I can climb right back" is rich with meaning - it sees Kurt wishing either to go back to before birth or to have not been born at all. It also makes me think that he is trying to say that simply being born/alive is the very thing taht is killing him - Umbillical = life source b4 birth and noose = instrument of inflicted death! Cheers for listening! |

| Marilyn Manson – The Nobodies Lyrics

Although influenced by events such as columbine and the murdered nun in italy, I think that the songs main message is that some people feel so worthless and powerless that they will do anything for recognision. The point of the song which bears most weight is the fact that these people think that death will bring them notoriety "When were dead, you`ll know just who we are"
and then Manson goes on to dismissively refer to them as 'some children' I sure as hell can't remember there names!! |
