about a year ago i almost ended my life on several occasions, and this song, along with American Football's "When The Summer Ends," were chosen by myself to have played at my funeral, but now, as I sit here in the warmth of this beautiful song, I can only say that I am happy to be alive on a day like this where I can turn on this song as and actually breathe the morning air. To me this song is questioning one's existence in this cynical world and wether or not he's lead a fulfilled life, wether it be through his friendships, faith and religion, or in honorable character. And, at times, one is helpless in which way the current sways and directs us in life. And yet, we also see that even though we might now fulfill our so-called destinys, we still can see the goodness in some people, like our friends for example. It's amazing to meet someone with a heart as big as yours, and it's almost as if you can see right through that person and that perhaps you've known them for your whole life. "But I still see you" is an incredible line. It reminds me of the Joy Luck Club where even though the mother has never given her daughter much love or affection or told her how much much she is proud of her, her response back to the daughter is, "I see you." Memorizing. This is my funeral song hands down. |
