| Two Gallants – The Hand That Held Me Down Lyrics

ok... no...
The song is about being in a bad relationship but still being in love with the person you know is bad for you. He's admitting it was his hand (his own fault) that kept him down, but she was encouraging it. And still he's the one that defends her if anyone beings up how bad she was for him. |

oh and I why buggers? I've been singing it niggers, which i know isnt right, but makes a lot more sense in the setting, unless the homosexual context of bugger is a lot more common in seatle then in portland? |

Firstly (OMG you had a college teacher beat you if you didn't signpost eh?) they said that this song came out in 02 and had "fuck" on it, so it predates the later "fuck".
And and the Cabinet (it should be in caps) is an appointed position in the executive office, think Secratiary of State. The rose garden is a sort of off hand term for the lawn of the White House where press conferences are held.
(I assume at one point they were held in or near a real garden, and maybe there are still some roses? but I don't really see them?) |

I don't mind pop-punk, I sorta like thrice and fall out boy sometimes ... AM is not in their class when it comes to hook driven pop ... but they were so good at the minimalist DIY post-hardcore!
That's why we're disappointed, and why we're calling them sell outs: they abandoned a music style that is under-represented but interesting, and enjoyable, and they were one of the best of the scene, and they're now pop-core junk.
The worst part is now I can't trust anything on Reinventing; it seems like maybe they we're pandering to us the way they're pandering to radio now. |

for the "debt" I owe
dust the "pane"
"no" song could sing
waiting for "death's parole"
Now the house cleaning is done, anyone know what this is about? My best guess is divorce (the love so bold, the chains, the death's parole) but that's little more then a guess. Also what is a rib-cage brain? |

Jesus wouldn't have been lowly; a free carpenter would have been considered an artisan, while most of the labour intensive work would have been done by slaves. I love this song though :) |

I'm not sure I get the "mothers swearing" line? Is it the last generations hope that the next won't have to give up their ideals?
I don't think that the song is so much about the ineviblilty (sp?) of growing up but a lament about watching friends grow old. (Otherwise why are the newlyweds "going under"?) |

I don't like labeling bands as sellouts any more then the next guy, but come on? How can anyone defend a post-hardcore band that has repeatedly "sold" to the highest bidder and opted "out" of its genre for a more radio friendly pop-punk sound?
Plus they're an awful pop punk band. |

I thought the "neon light" line was kinda corny... I think emo's more about being real, so I love the "automatic windows" line, I don't think anyone who didn't really do that would ever think to say it. Heartfelt is better the hack metaphor. |

I love this song and the two that follow. I’ve always loved concept albums, and this one is so impressive. The way the story goes from desperation to understanding; is so beautiful. |

This seems to me either to be a really sweet song about a girl... or a song about a girl drownding herself... i kinda hope the former... |

I think a lot of this album is Coner trying to break out of what everyone thinks he is; he has songs with the deseraparidos about disliking his popluarity as an emo Dylan, and i think this is an extension of that, where he tries to admit his previous works aren't really him. Then the next song is the saddest on the recond... go figure. |
